Gentlemen,
You should be very proud of your work in putting on a top-notch show. I heard so many positive comments and the audiences in both location were very appreciative of our performance. I even heard from and about folks who are interested in joining us at some point.
My vision for this show was to set a new standard for the quality of our singing and I do believe we did that. I feel like you are all developing your singing skills and we are doing it without sacrificing fun. That's a win.
You should be proud of your individual accomplishments, for your "extra efforts" in selling ads, practicing your music, helping with sets, set-up, coffee or treats at practice--all of that. But what's amazing about choral music is that we don't achieve any level of success individually, we do it as a group. The individual efforts are combined with the individual efforts of others and blended together to make the choral sound. And what we do together is enhanced by how much we all enjoy working together. We truly can achieve more together than we can individually. That's an example our society could learn.
If you see Nicki and Joe around please thank them. They did so well and put in a lot of time. All of you quartet and VLQ guys--good going! We talked when Gordon was here this winter about starting to do more promotion of quartets and quartet activities--what a great start to that!
And Kordal Kombat--what a talented and nice bunch of guys. They really added a lot to an already great show!
I hope you took note of the number of Great Plains Harmony guys who were in attendance at our show yesterday. They did their church singouts in the morning and just took the bus to Fergus for our show. How great of them to do that for us. We need to in-turn support them at their show next weekend. Shows are Friday and Saturday at Good Shepherd Lutheran in south Moorhead. Check Facebook for details.
We also had members of the Dakota Vocal Union in Fargo joining us on Friday. They also have a show on Sunday, April 26 at Faith + Journey Lutheran Church in West Fargo.
Many of you brought family and friends--I hope they properly congratulated you. You done good.
Again we have our banquet next week. We'll sing a couple of show songs, have a little sing-along and have our awards for the evening. We probably will take some time to talk about the show and things we learned.
But then we'll be back to work. We have a board meeting on April 27th and Gordon Moe is planning on joining us for that. We will need to have a Music Team meeting soon to plan out the rest of our year's activities and get started on finalizing a song list for next year's show. But let's celebrate, first! :)
To each and every one of you, I want to thank you for what you bring to our group. I feel so blessed to lead you guys each week in preparation for performances big and small. I am excited about where we are heading--let's keep building!
Brent
