In the Internet appeared the press release of i-mate dated today. It says it will announce two new devices – i-mate JAQ and i-mate SPL at CTIA Wireless IT 2006 (12-14 September, Los Angeles). However there is no info about it at the official i-mate site. Both models are designed for GSM networking and powered by Windows Mobile
5.0 OS.
We've already mentioned i-mate JAQ in our news block, this device is developed by Inventec, not HTC. According to the press release, i-mate JAQ supports quad-band GSM/GPRS, has a QWERTY-keyboard, a 2.8" 65K color LCD, 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash ROM, an expansion slot for miniSD cards and Bluetooth interface.
i-mate SPL is a smartphone with the design similar to Motorola SLVR. It can work under tri-band GSM/GPRS networks and comes with a 2.2" 65K color LCD, 64 MB RAM and 128 MB flash ROM, an expansion slot for miniSD cards and Bluetooth interface.

A-Data introduces an 8GB SDHC card
A-Data Technology has announced an 8GB SDHC flash card. This is no longer a record – 8GB cards have been already announced by Pretec.
A-Data cards comply with specifications SDA 2.00 and provide up to 20 Mbps data read/write speed. They involve FAT32 file system. The release of new 8GB cards is set for 4Q 2006.
Motorola and Nokia to work together on mobile TV [ 11-09-2006 18:18 ]
Today Motorola and Nokia announced their intention to work together on compatibility of broadcasting mobile TV-services and speed up the market introduction. It deals with DVB-H (Digital Video Broadcast – Handheld).
The companies plan to offer their support to operators introducing mobile TV services and to work on standardization and optimization of mobile TV-services.
According to the analytical company Informa, the mobile TV market will grow very fast and reach 50 million DVB-H devices by 2010.

Today Kenwood announced its new HDD audio player – the HD30GB9, which is to become the flagman of the HDD audio players line-up.

A couple of months ago there was early info on the upcoming ORSiO communicator. Now we have more details and mostly important, official info about it. The device is called ORSiO n725, it doesn't support 3G networking, but it can work in Wi-Fi wireless networks.

We can hardly imagine a modern cellphones without a digital photo camera, the quality of which is ever growing and is comparable with inexpensive digital still cameras. Samsung has introduced an ultra slim camera module for cellphones. It features a 3-megapixel resolution.
The module measures 28x16x9 mm and at the same time has 3x optical zoom. This is the module for future very compact camera phones.
LG-LB1700: a new slider with DMB [ 05-09-2006 11:48 ]
The South Korean company LG Electronics announced today the release of another mobile phone supporting DMB. The model is called LB1700 and it will be available soon.
LG-LB1700 is a slider equipped with a 2" 262K color TFT LCD with wide viewing angle – up to 170 degrees in all directions.
The phone comes with the special stand, so you can comfortably watch DMB programs on the phone screen, its external telescopic antenna amplifies weak signal in remote places. There is an opportunity to watch DMB programs on external sources.

O2 Mars: a new communicator, early photos and details [ 05-09-2006 11:07 ]
At the forum of MyPDACafe.com you can come across photos of the O2 Mars communicator, which is not yet officially announced. With its design and specs it looks like O2 Xda trion (another implementation of HTC Hermes platform), however there are some differences.

The preliminary specs of O2 Mars:

At the FCC site (the US Federal communications Commission) you can read about a new Windows Mobile powered smartphone Samsung SGH-i610. This is a clamshell phone supporting GSM/GPRS and UMTS networking.
Samsung SGH-i610 is equipped with a 2-megapixel camera with auto focus, Bluetooth interface, an expansion slot, an FM-tuner and a QWERTY-keyboard. iPAQ rx4000 – a new PDA by HP [ 04-09-2006 15:42 ]
HP has announced its new PDA series in China – the iPAQ rx4000 multimedia devices. They do not support cell communication, but still have their advantages.
The iPAQ rx4000 series is equipped with a big 2.8" touchscreen LCD, support (optionally) Wi-Fi wireless networks and Bluetooth interface, so you can connect wireless headphones and listen to stereo music. The handhelds are powered by Windows Mobile
5.0 for Pocket PC.
The iPAQ rx4000 handhelds will be commercially available this October in the Asia Pacific region. As for other regions, there is no info, so far.

Samsung electronics announced today a slim clamshell phone called the SCH-B590 on the Korean market. It is 16.5 mm thick and supports T-DMB broadcasting.
A peculiar thing about it is the opportunity to watch programs in portrait or landscape modes (you have to turn the display horizontally) . Besides there is a 1.3-megapixel camera. This week the SCH-B590 will appear first at the Korean operator SKT with the recommended price of 500 thousand Won,
i.e. some $520.
