A new paper looks at the deployment of atmospheric scrubbers in the form of calcite particles injected into the stratosphere to counter an SAI deployment.
This seems to be both a potential benefit and harm to climate stabilisation efforts.
On one hand it provides an opportunity to limit the effects of an internationally un-sanctioned deployment by a rogue actor, corporation on single state.
On another it provides a single state, rouge actor etc. the ability to counter a more internationally sanctioned deployment if it's interest were threatened.
On yet another (and potentially helpful) it allows an emergency break to be available if a well intentioned and agreed deployment started causing unexpected or harmful side-effects.
Food for thought.
