The song was also used in a 1998 ad for the Toyota Sienna after it became the best performing vehicle ever tested by the IIHS crash test agency at that time.[25] Chris Eubank, a British former two-weight world champion boxer, regularly walked out to the song for his match entrances.[26]

Bill Coleman from Billboard described the song as an "easy-paced pop offering which finds Turner's voice taking front and center stage."[27] The Daily Vault's Mark Millan called it a "sing-along anthem".[28] Pan-European magazine Music & Media stated that the singer's "dramatic range is fully utilised on this impressive and polished production (courtesy Dan Hartman and Turner)."[29] A reviewer from People Magazine said it "features such pizza-box lyrics as 'You're simply the best/ Better than all the rest/ Better than anyone/ Anyone I've ever met'." The reviewer also noted that Edgar Winter adds a saxophone solo "with bite".[30] Pop Rescue called the song "flawless", adding that it was probably the fact that it's such a simple song that "helped it to become so widely popular."[31]

One of the best-charting songs of all-time, it's hard to start a Tina Turner list with anything other than 1984's "What's Love Got to Do with It." Penned by Terry Britten and Graham Lyle, but brought to life through Turner's evocative, raspy vocal performance, the song won three Grammys and remains a radio staple even today.

Another iconic Turner cover, she offered her own glitzy power pop take on Bonnie Tyler's "The Best" in 1989. When Turner hits her first "You're simply the best," you'll surely feel the song's firework of a chorus in your chest.

Another warm, technicolor dance track, Tina Turner ushered out the '80s with Foreign Affair, a synth-and-guitar-centric album that featured some of her catchiest work. Singles like "The Best" and "Steamy Windows" made more of a splash, but "Falling Like Rain" is one of her best and brightest, drawing on shades of Prince.

The best sci-fi movies often push the boundaries of what's possible to depict on the big screen by taking on complex fictional concepts that are often rooted in reality. Recent films in the category embrace the intersection between science, philosophy, and humanity, and use mind-blowing visuals and cutting-edge cinematography to bolster filmmakers' ambitious efforts.

From the visually stunning and otherworldly story told in Dune to the mind-bending mix of existentialism and the multiverse in Everything Everywhere All at Once, the greatest science fiction movies from the past five years represent the best that the genre has to offer. With so much to explore in the genre, these are the few standouts that should be considered essential viewing for fans.

Simply the Best is surrounded by some of the best situations a compilation can hope for. Tina Turner's work for Capitol past Private Dancer was spotty, she made a bunch of appearances on soundtracks and other artists' albums, and most of the tracks on Private Dancer are good enough to own twice. Almost half of Private Dancer shows up on Simply the Best, but you don't have to endure the way the original album spiraled down into slick fizzle. Instead you have to endure a misguided, pumped-up house remix of "Nutbush City Limits," but that's it. Everything else here is either top-notch or campy, certifiable fun. A duet with Rod Stewart on "It Takes Two" supplies the fun along with the new track, "I Want You Near Me" (Turner to lover: "You're so good with your hands/To help me with a hook or zip"). The two other new tracks tacked to the end beat out most of the album cuts the collection passes on, plus you get the bombastic
