Strap yourselves in for this issue. So one of my Mac's - a Macbook Pro 13" 2016 has a screen issue. When I turn it on the screen appears black. Wait don't go on to the next issue - it isn't a black screen of death. So if I connect a monitor it works fine - so the Mac is definitely loading up.
So - and this is where it gets weird - I was physically checking the screen using the torch on my iPhone and I noticed that if shine a light on the screen I could make out the login icons!! I managed to use the light to find the cursor and logon and the computer loads up fine. I've included a pic so you can see it.
I then checked the screen brightness using siri to put it to the max brightness and was able to navigate to the preferences to uncheck auto-adjust brightness and check and weird issues under displays but nothing changed it.
I've also managed to restart and using a torch to cast light on the screen as before managed to start it in OS Recovery mode and re-install Catalina but it still doesn't reset the the screen or make it any brighter.
So basically, everything is loading up fine but the screen is black, if I shine a bright light on to the screen I can faintly see the desktop screen and login. Any ideas what the problem could be or anything else I can try?
Thank you. Just to help others that may find the same problem. There is an official Apple Repair programme for some MBP's like mine with a defective screen: -gb/13-inch-macbook-pro-display-backlight-service
Silly, but I use it for monitor cleaning. It makes things on the screen obvious. :) I also use it to validate plain colour reproduction for different monitors, but that only comes up rarely and I'm not looking for professional colour grading.
I'm working on a animated sequence, and i'm doing it the traditional way (by hand), so i need a white surface with light that allows me to put one piece of paper over another and be able to see both, so since i don't have a professional screen for this, i'm using my computer and putting the white screen on it so i don't touch anything by mistake
While studying, I use 2 screens, one with a timer and one to search whatever I need on the internet. When I am not searching, I put the white screen so I don't get distracted with anything on the computer
This wikiHow will teach you how to add the flashlight to your lock screen on an Android as well as how to turn off and on the flashlight from the lock screen on an iPhone. iPhones that don't have a Home button but have a Raise to Wake option or tap the screen to see the lock screen feature usually have a flashlight icon near the bottom of the screen. If you have a Samsung Galaxy, navigate through the Settings to set one of the shortcuts to the flashlight. And if you have an Android that's not a Samsung, you can access the flashlight through the Quick Settings panel.
Completely agree with you on that one. Got the Flip 3 a few days ago and would say that the widget panel has a lot of potential. Wouldn't even mind if the double press enabled the flashlight, while the camera was put in the widget menu.
Also when I power on the TV, a light flashes across the screen then goes black. With just a really faint tint of picture or menu on the screen. Can only be seen when you're holding a flash light up to the screen. Sound works perfectly to what ever input you select.
Hi there if got a aim TV also if I hold my torch can see the picture settings I've done scan reset it all of that it work yesterday but when I turn it on today got little picture of i put my flash light
If the screen is dark, but is visible when exposed to bright light, then the backlight may be broken. A simple comparison would be the Game Boy, which had to backlight and was notoriously difficult to use in the dark
hello, i know this is a old thread hopefully your still on here. i have a question of what you said. it seems it might be my problem. my screen is very dim today. about a week ago my power surge tripped for no reason and i dont know why. could the tv voltage from the board trip the surge. and then it eventually blew the led backlights out? i was thinking of fixing the led myself, but if i also have this volt issue you speak of i might just buy a new tv. or maybe buy another motherboard and backlights at the same time if i do decide to do it myself?
@oldturkey03 i dont have a multimeter. i took the entire back off today and just browsed the board for any defects like swollen components or burnt one. i decided to not flip it over and pull the front off to look at the lights. its a hisense model 75eu8070. i found a tv repair shop in town thats been in business for over 30 years. im going to call them tommorrow and ask their rates. the size of this tv is just to much to mess with for me. if it was 32 or 50 id just rip it apart but i guess ima let the pros handle it and ill mention the voltage
ic ommented above, i took mine to a repair shop and they replaced the bulb strips and its been good since. cost about $300 but some of these newer screens you can break while opening and it was 75 inch. had 3 really old guys who fixed tvs out of boredom in retirement do it
A TORCH screen is a panel of tests for detecting infections in pregnant women. Infections may be passed on to a fetus during pregnancy. Early detection and treatment of an infection can prevent complications in newborns.
A doctor usually performs some components of the TORCH screen routinely when a woman has her first prenatal visit. They may perform other components if a woman shows symptoms of certain diseases during the pregnancy. These diseases can cross the placenta and cause birth defects in the newborn. These conditions include:
The TORCH viral screens are simple, low-risk blood tests. You may experience bruising, redness, and pain at the puncture site. In very rare cases, the puncture wound can become infected. There is no risk to the fetus to have this testing.
The TORCH screen results show whether you currently have an infectious disease or recently had one. It can also show if you have immunity to certain diseases, like Rubella, from being previously vaccinated yourself.
The location of the torch or flashlight function on your device will depend on the operating system your device is using. Most Samsung phones allow you to to quickly access and turn on the torch from your quick settings, but if this is not available you can also add the torch as a widget.
It isn't a fair comparison to compare sunlight with LED lights. The reason is that LED lights only give light at very narrow bands in the spectrum. The total energy that this gives is very low compared to the sun, which gives light from all across the spectrum. This is why they are efficient.
To give an idea, the sun gives off around 11 Watts of energy per cm2 (square centimeter). A led light of 5W (300 lumen) gives off less than 1.5 watts per cm2. So the energy is around more than 10 times less.
It should not. I would not do such a thing, but a flashlight is vastly less intense than sunlight. One needs safety glasses to view an eclipse. No such need for flashlights. Still, I do not recommend it just to be sure.
