Those flinty liberals -- not satisfied that President Obama is looking at
trying to raise taxes on the rich, they are all irate at prospective plans
to trim spending on entitlements as part of a deficit-reduction program.

"Obama consistently expresses a preference for the progressive view, and
then refuses to fight for it," said Adam Green, co-founder of the
Progressive Change Campaign Committee. "We need him to draw a line in the
sand."

Obama tomorrow will deliver a speech at George Washington University
outlining his plans for reducing the deficit. Green's organization today
launched a donor strike to let him know what they think of what they've
heard so far.

The Bold Progressives, as they call themselves, have taken a dim view of
Obama's salute to the center, objecting on earlier occasions to his
dropping the public option in health care, extending Bush-era tax cuts
for the wealthy and now -- this.
