But with changes to data protection laws driven by the introduction of GDPR and CCPA the scope of personal data has been expanded to include video footage. With pretty much every business, building, and public space now having some form of CCTV video surveillance huge amounts of personal data are captured, recorded and stored every single day.

Pixelate provides a highly effective tool that allows businesses and organisations to perform timely SAR responses through GDPR and CCPA compliant software that automatically redacts video footage and mitigates the risk of related regulatory fines that otherwise may be imposed by the ICO or the State of California.

Under both GDPR and CCPA individuals have the right to perform a Subject Access Request (SAR) and obtain records to all of their personal information held by any organisation, including data gathered through CCTV equipment. Although framed as a request, when a business or organisation receives a SAR they are under a legal obligation to issue timely responses and to supply all personal data held on that individual, including video footage.

Suitable for all types of camera footage, our software harnesses the power of AI and machine learning to allow users to quickly apply intelligent automated redaction to video footage. Simply upload your videos directly to our secure Pixelate platform through advanced end-to-end encryption to the cloud and let our system go to work and obscure the faces of others that appear within the footage. This not only saves your business the cost of specialist redaction hardware and costly outsourcing services, but can also redact your videos 5-times faster than other solutions currently on the market.

Simply select between 5 and 30 minutes of redaction per month and choose how many user licenses you require. Additional video redaction can also be bought in blocks of 15, 60, 180, and 540 minutes of footage to top-up your account. Please see below for more details of our subscription plans.

"We get a lot of Subject Access Requests for CCTV and Body Cam footage and Pixelate enables us to quickly and easily respond to these requests. "I would highly recommend Pixelate as it allows us to quickly and easily redact CCTV footage, which is necessary in order to comply with GDPR requirements. I would recommend it to any business looking for an easy to use, professional video redaction solution."

You will be able to access your dashboard, which also includes the ability to upload videos and use both the auto-detect and manual masking functions within the Pixelate application. However you will be unable to process redacted footage, or blur part of video footage, to do this you must have an active subscription in place in order to redact and retrieve your redacted video.

Follow exactly the same steps for setting up a free account then simply select the appropriate subscription level. The system will issue an invoice, once paid you will be able to process redacted footage and export/download your files.

Under the new GDPR regulations (effective from May 2018, and enforced across the UK and Europe) and CCPA (a state-wide California data privacy law), individuals have a right to request access to personal data. Denying this request, or failing to provide this information within 30-days at no cost to the individual is a breach of GDPR and CCPA which could have serious legal consequences.

Personal data refers to a wide range of information, from licence plate, name, date of birth, IP address, and cookie usage. Images or clips of footage from CCTV recordings can contain large amounts of this data, so it is essential that all information relating to third-parties is redacted before being released as part of a Subject Access Request.

Pixelate is an ideal solution for all organisations that use closed-circuit television (CCTV) on their premises or share data. Pixelate allows users to quickly and efficiently blur a moving face in video footage and to record the blurring effect through a low cost subscription that provides GDPR compliant redaction.

After you have uploaded your video to our online platform, Pixelate processes the footage using an artificial intelligence engine and returns a number of segments where bodies have been detected in the frames.

Then all you have to do is delete the redaction mask from the individual(s) you do not wish to redact, and your video will be processed, pixelated, and returned to your user dashboard for you to download and save.

Pixelate complies with all current and future data protection regulations, and has advanced end-to-end encryption for all footage. Data is processed in the UK for UK users and in the US for users based in the US. User-access control is secure.

There are three different subscription packages to suit your business. There is also an option to buy additional minutes and user licenses, giving Pixelate that added flexibility to meet the needs of any business. You have the option to pay by purchase order or by card.

If you have developed a proprietary software solution that involves the recording of video, we can tailor Pixelate to provide a bespoke version that embeds directly into any third party application, making them GDPR or CCPA compliant. Developed in partnership with Google, Ocucon Pixelate harnesses the power of artificial intelligence to deliver the first of its kind, intelligent video redaction tool for General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) compliance.

Suitable for most forms of camera footage including body cameras, the web-based software, uniquely enables users to select the faces they wish to pixelate. Existing video redaction software, that manually redacts images, can prove extremely costly and time intensive. Whereas newer automated, cloud-based technologies have been known to be unreliable, particularly on shaky body-cam footage and are unable to exclude individual faces.

With the introduction of GDPR, the need for video redaction software will increase as organisations seek to abide by tougher restrictions on how they process and store identifying personal data, including data contained within CCTV or other security footage. As a result, the new Pixelate service is expected to be of interest to a wide range of organisations including large retailers, property management firms and large corporations, airports and transport hubs, hospitals, universities, local authorities and police forces.
