It fits in my small (width-wise) bathtub and it's comfy, too!
By Gravecat
Oh boy, did I have the hardest time trying to find a comfortable, yet wide-enough seat, plus sturdy, shower chair!
You see, some years ago, when I had double foot surgery, I had to order a shower chair. When it came, it was great....anti-microbial material, sturdy, everything you would want EXCEPT it didn't fit my shower! I felt that it was money wasted...I couldn't use it! I still have it, I just can't use it.
Flash forward a few years. Still bugged that I do not have a shower chair, I find one in one of those gift catalogs you get in the mail. The ad said that it was small for smaller showers/tubs. After measuring again my showere's width, I thought, "Great! It will fit!" and ordered one.
I got it. It fit. But the thing was so uncomforatable! It was a round seat. Grant you, I knew this, but seeing it in a catalog and actually sitting on it are two different stories. The thing hurt my bottom it was that hard, and the very small, round "barstool" like seat was not wide enough at all. I did not, in any way, feel secure on it, least of all comfortable.
Frustration again.
Still bugged that I cannot get a shower chair that not only fits the small width of my tub (only 16" wide) AND find one that is solidly constructed, stable AND comfortable....I search again on Amazon.
Screen after screen reading description after description - not finding any that will fit my width and will offer any comfort to me, that is until I find this one by Comfytopia.
Well, the name "Comfytopia", the name itself already gives me some level of interest. Heck, these people name their company after the word comfort. Maybe they produce something comfortable....?
Their chair's seat not only looked wide enough to support me, but it looked comfortable. AND, the width will fit my tub! Can it be, really that I found a chair for my shower at last?
I ordered yet another chair, hoping that this will be the last one.. I get it, assemble it (It is so easy. BELIEVE ME, I am NOT mechanically inclined and I could put this together!) and hesitantly put it in my shower.
Holy Schnike-y, it fits! It fits! Now for the "litmus test"....will it support me AND support me comfortably?
Shower time....YES! It does! At last I found my chair!
You may laugh at my melodramatic review here, but you have no idea the level of frustration and expense this has been for me. Not to mention, the many times I would have benefited from having my chair...the times I had the flu, was dizzy but desperately needed a shower and risked getting dizzy and falling. How about my double-foot surgery....I had nothing then and had to do contortions just to be able to bathe which resulted in a watery mess in my bathroom.
EVERYONE needs a shower chair despite age and health. Ladies, do you like sitting on the bottom of your tub, uncomforably "bunched up" and having to shave? I don't. I hate it. See? You need a chair. It's so nice to have a chair and have the option of sitting just in case you have to.
And this chair by Comfytopia I highly recommend. If you don't have a walk-in shower to support the huge chairs other vendors offer, and you don't want a "mini barstool" that is uncomfortable and wobbly, this would be a wonderful choice.
I'm so glad that I continued to search for my perfect shower chair. Thanks, Comfytopia!

A good buy; would recommend to anyone needing one of these
By QueensGirl
I bought this shower seat for my 67-year old mother to use after kidney surgery. The seat is easily put together, height adjustable and feels very stable. It fit a standard New York apartment bathtub perfectly with no problems. Mom particularly liked the fact that the seat is non-slip textured and slightly curved. The large rubber feet keep the seat steady and secure in the shower.
She didn't end up needing the seat for very long, but I saved the box and I'm putting it in storage, since none of us are getting any younger and you never know when we may need it again.
One last thing: I had debated whether or not to get a seat with a back, but after talking to a sales guy at the "you can do it, we can help" home improvement store, he recommended getting this one from Amazon instead of the one they carried at their store. He told me that the one with the back didn't work well for his elderly mother, because it made it difficult for her to reach her backside without having to inch forward in the chair, which could be dangerous. I asked my mom for her thoughts on this and she said she could see where having a back on the chair might get in the way.
Just thought I'd share this bit of advice, as it was helpful to me.

too low - picture of legs is deceiving
By gigi-lily
would suggest you spend $3 more and get the exact same seat that is
4 inches higher. this one is only 17 inches high. the other one is
21 inches high.
