In early 2019, health and social protection experts from GIZ and KfW submitted nine proposals for case studies and discussion papers to the German Health Practice Collection. From 20 – 28 March, GIZ- and KfW health and social protection staff worldwide are invited to have their say in the selection of the two studies which the GHPC will document and share with an international expert audience in 2019/2020.

Resilient Societies: Ready for the Future!

At this year’s regional conference of GIZ’s Sector Network Health and Social Protection around 120 delegates will gather on 26-28 March in Lilongwe, Malawi, to exchange on current challenges and innovations in their fields. The conference will explore the link between societies’ resilience and Africa´s social development and economic transformation focusing on the contributions of health and social protection.

Mobile laboratories for Pandemic Preparedness in the East African Community

Mobile laboratories for EAC countries shift the frontiers of diagnostic efficiency in outbreak detection in Africa. German financial cooperation, through KfW, provides funding for a project in which experts of the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine guide EAC lab technicians in setting up and running a regional laboratory network for outbreak detection.

Del­e­gates at USP con­fer­ence in Geneva

‘Just join USP2030!’

At the high-level conference ‘Together to achieve Universal Social Protection by 2030 (USP2030)’ hosted by ILO, the OECD and several other partners in Geneva, delegates shared experiences of how to accelerate progress towards USP in a time of increasing inequality. BMZ underlined Germany’s support for the USP Call to Action and invited others to join the cause.
