Hi, Health & Human Services Action Team,

Our sister organization in Lake Oswego, Lake Oswego Sustainability Network, is sponsoring a tour that relates to emergency preparedness – specifically to the “big one” (earthquake).

Please see the article below, and note that they use “resilience” instead of “emergency preparedness”. This tour may serve as a model to which we can aspire. …

After the Big Earthquake: Is Your Home Ready?

When: Saturday, April 25, 2026 | 1 - 4 pm

Where: 4 homes and 1 school in Lake Oswego

In Tilt, a massive Cascadia earthquake reshapes the Pacific Northwest in an instant. Roads fracture. Power fails. Families are left to navigate a new reality. What would that look like here in Lake Oswego?

As part of the Lake Oswego Public Library 2026 LO Reads program, we invite you to experience what real preparedness looks like — before disaster strikes.

This free home and school tour on Saturday, April 25, from 1 - 4 pm, shows how local residents and our school district are planning for the moment when the grid goes down. This tour connects climate action with disaster readiness — because sustainability is not just about reducing emissions. It’s about ensuring our community can function when systems fail.
