Thecrossfire series revolves around Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell, two people with a complicated past. Both of them are victims of sexual abuse as children, which has left them scarred and changed their overview of life in general.
A chance meeting in the lobby of the Crossfire Building sparks a time-testing romance and emotional rollercoaster. Eva is a bit naive having moved from San Diego to New York with her childhood friend Cary. Gideon, on the other hand, is poised, assured and arrogant, typical for a man with his wealth.
Gideon and Eva are determined to make things work but they face some opposition from their family and friends. Their solution, to elope and disguise it as an engagement. Gideon as Gideon struggles with his own demon, Eva feels like Gideon is pulling away.
This is the last book in the series. Gideon starts to open up slowly, with the help of a shrink. There is a bit of fun and fluff in this book. The two also experience a tragedy. Secrets that had been long hidden start unravelling, making the couple question what they have always known to be true.
The books are amazing if you are a fan of romance. I would highly recommend them. The descriptions and the narrations were great. The problem is, I could help but feel like I am reading Fifty Shades Trilogy in an alternate universe where they live in New York instead of Seattle. The description of characters, their background stories, the alfa male who does what he wants and the girl who submits and changes the guy, they are mostly similar.
I know right? I have read those book a million times and when everything is not right in my world, they are my to go. Something about books that have happy endings gives me hope IRL as well. Thank you for your comment. ??
Please excuse me if this is not an appropriate topic for this forum or if it has been covered already. I'm new to this genre and have been completely seduced by these books. I've got to give them a rest for a while and need to find something else to read. EIY will be devoured all too soon and then there will be the long wait for #4.
I've read some reviews and lists of supposedly comparable books, but haven't liked any. None had the depth of characters, lively sharp dialogue, and solid plot to go along with the erotic side. The only book I liked I picked up the other day from this group - Dublin Road. Read it last night and really enjoyed it, though nothing can compete with...
Anyway, I've only been a member here for a couple of weeks, but reading everyone's comments, which are funny, literate, clever, and full of interesting background knowledge, makes me feel like recommendations from you all would really be worth having - as opposed to the kind of (to use Gideon's phrase) "spank bank" p*** with cringe inducing dialogue I've seen listed elsewhere.
I too have become a fan (obsessed LOL) with this new (If you can call it that) romance Genre. I have really enjoyed Raine Miller's Blackstone Series, the third book was released recently. Emily Snow's book Devoured, there are more coming out in that series, there is a prequel to Devoured called All Over You. H M Ward writes short little books but there are many in each series. Sydney Landon is great, there are four books in her Danver's series and it starts with Weekends Required. Ruth Cardello has a good series also, the fifth was recently released. I hope that helps.
A friend gave me Claim Me and Release Me by J. Kenner. They follow a Gideva type couple. They are 2/3 of The Stark Trilogy - last book due out July 30. They were better than most versions of difficult hot billionaire and wounded heroine I have tried - IMO about equal in quality to On Dublin Street which I liked. Don't mean to sound so lukewarm - it's just nothing compares to Crossfire.
I have been reading this forum for the past few months and have loved everyone's comments and thoughts, but this is my first time posting myself. I really love SD's historical books and of course the crossfire series.
Water for Elephants by Sara Gruen. I love the story so much, and the structure of the novel, too. Young Jacob learned how to be a man the hard way, but carved himself a happy life, and Old Jacob finds a wonderful, lovely way to end 'his' novel. I wouldn't have seen it coming, ever!!!
"...He was beautiful and brilliant, jagged and white-hot. I was drawn to him as I'd never been to anything or anyone in my life. I craved his touch like a drug, even knowing it would weaken me. I was flawed and damaged, and he opened those cracks in me so easily...
Gideon knew. He had demons of his own. And we would become the mirrors that reflected each other's most private worlds...and desires. The bonds of his love transformed me, even as I prayed that the torment of our pasts didn't tear us apart..."
"Gideon Cross. As beautiful and flawless on the outside as he was damaged and tormented on the inside. He was a bright, scorching flame that singed me with the darkest of pleasures. I couldn't stay away. I didn't want to. He was my addiction... my every desire... mine.
"...From the moment I first met Gideon Cross, I recognized something in him that I needed. Something I couldn't resist. I saw the dangerous and damaged soul inside--so much like my own. I was drawn to it. I needed him as surely as I needed my heart to beat.
The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn't sure I was strong enough to bear..."
Karen G.: I found it so interesting that Gideon was a mystery to her for 3 books and yet was able to create a story that had me want to devour every word! Then when he did reveal himself Captivated By You was a seemless continuation and I loved it also. Bravo Ms. Day!
"...Marrying him was a dream come true. Staying married to him is the fight of my life. Love transforms. Ours is both a refuge from the storm and the most violent of tempests. Two damaged souls entwined as one.
We have bared our deepest, ugliest secrets to one another. Gideon is the mirror that reflects all my flaws ... and all the beauty I couldn't see. He has given me everything. Now, I must prove I can be the rock, the shelter for him that he is for me. Together, we could stand against those who work so viciously to come between us. But our greatest battle may lie within the very vows that give us strength..."
DG: I have been in a Gideon fog *fans self*. There is NOTHING better than a hottie alpha, a little broken but oh so possessive! Needless to say I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED One with You! Also, nothing better than seeing Eva finally come into her own, strong and fierce with her love. The last two books in this series were definitely a 4.5 to 5 star for me.
Omg I just read bared for you in basically 24 hours. I liked it almost better than fifty shades. Oct 12 is frankly way to long to wait. Anyway we can start a petition to get it released sooner like tomorrow.
Hi i have to say im not really impressed with bared to u im only a third of the way through the book and its to samey as 50 shades i think the author could have used her imagination a bit more (just personal preference) but i will finish the book to see if its worth reading the others when they come out !!
i have just finished bared to you and i couldnt put it down. i did like fifty shades better and thought bared to you was abit of a copy but all the same i still enjoyed it and will be getting the second one as soon as it comes out ?
I just read that Intwined with you is not coming out unitl May 2013. I am really upset. If Sylvia Day write another series of books i will not read any of them until the entire series is released. I was so looking forward to the 3rd book that was suppose to be released in December 2012 and now to wait 7 months for the next one is just ridiculous. I am very disappointed. everyone i spoke to who has read these books agrees. What is the hold up?
Hi!! I loved the book Bared To You and I am obsessed but I was told the second book wont be released til the 23rd and then I just read it has been out since Oct. 3rd??? Im also confused on the fact that at the end of Bared To You it says to look forward to the 2nd book titled Deeper In You, and now that the release date is coming up I am finding a book called Reflected In You!!! Can you help me out, and please tell me what book I should be looking for and ordering and when will it really be out?
Has a reading day yesterday started entwined to you at 7.30am and finished it at 22.35! what a fab book but now im in the same position as before, awaiting book 4 and she has left so many things hanging! OMG I hope book 4 is not going to be too long away!
