Hookah & Beer Joint Startup Ideation

Dear Friends,

Am not sure, is this can be discussed here...

One of my friend is keen on investing/partnering an investment or ideating a hookah & beer(only  draught  beer) + small resto joint startup.

Looking for info on few points & some headsup:

1. Eligibility criteria for the license

2. Is Bar license needed or is there any special license to sell only draught beer & hookah

3. Cost and methods involved.

This is a serious thought, and looking for directed business plan.

Please do not deviate the topic by quoting any statutory line like - "Alchohol ....bad or smoking .....kills etc etc"

Its up to individuals discretion and lifestyle.

          I am not sure about the hookah part of it The last time I heard BBMP was going to ban Hookah joints. With reference to sale of draught beer

        1. Eligibility criteria for the license

            There is no eligibility criteria for acquiring license

        2. To sell draught beer, you have a separate license. If you want to server bottled beer and hard liquor, you will need to get a Liquor license(CL-9)

        3. The license to sell draught beer which would cost you about 20-25 lakhs to purchase, or to lease it, it would cost you about 10-12Lakhs and a monthly lease amount of about 30k-50k. 

            The license to sell  bottled beer and hard liquor would be about 60-70 lakhs. The deposit for the lease would be around 40L and the monthly lease amount would be around 50k -2.5L depending on the current location where the license is being used.

  

    Presently the government in Karnataka(assuming you are planning to open in Karnataka) is not issuing

new licenses, hence the only way you can startup is take a license on lease or buy it from someone else who has an existing license.
