I have been trying for a while now and can't seem to figure out this problem. At one point I installed the Freemake Video converter, and being dumb I just clicked fast through the installation. This must-have installed some sort of side program. I keep getting a pop up for an update on the app and it is getting really annoying. Freemake doesn't show up on Control Panel or the Add or Remove Programs in Settings on my computer. If anyone knows how to get rid of this, that would be great. The image below shows what the update popup looks like.

A while ago, I had Freemake Video converter downloaded, but it was not what I was looking for so I uninstalled it. Now I realize there is still a menu option showing up when I right-click on a sound or video file. It is uninstalled and I even deleted the extra bits leftover using the program "Everything" to locate anything called Freemake. I restarted my computer and it still appears in the right-click menu. Any help please and thanks for your time! ?

I've been a Format Factory user for over a year now but the latest version has some major bugs and I'm trying to find a replacement now I know about AnyVideoConverter and I see the latest version has fixed/improved a lot of the issues it had about a two years ago, so then came across Freemake and it looks really promising and I would like to try Freemake video converter but I read some reviews on Cnet that claims it installs adware against your consent, so I looked into this a little further and sure enough some of the reviews on Web Of Trust mentioned this as well then I decided to upload the Freemake installer to Virustotal and here's what it had to say:

Freemake Audio Converter is - as the name suggests, a (mostly) free way to convert or extract audio. It's the best of the free programs we considered, largely because it's reputable, and doesn't try to instal malware on your computer, or bombard you with pop-up ads when you try to use it. One thing we did notice is that Freemake tries to instal an extra app when you first download it, and you need to actively ask it not to do this. Despite this, Freemake Audio Converter is among the best audio converter software packages you can get right now and, while slower and less efficient than paid-for apps, it's well worth downloading if you only have a handful of files to convert or extract. You should also note that the free version will only convert audio files of three minutes or less, with longer tracks requiring an addition, paid-for, package.

It's all extremely easy to use, and no specialist knowledge is required. The only real downside is the need to wait three days for the free Web Pack to unlock all of the advanced features, but if you can live with that, you'll be hard pressed to find a more straightforward and convenient video downloader and converter.

Although Movavi Video Converter is one of your best options when it comes to selecting a reliable and feature-filled alternative to Freemake Video Converter, there are many other free and paid video converters available to choose from. Here are thirteen other recommendations for alternatives to Freemake Video Converter for both beginners and advanced video editors!
