The attachment shows the pick-up arrangements for FTU students arriving in the next couple of weeks. I do apologize for using the broader faculty email list for distribution of this message to the 10 faculty members who are involved in this effort. If there are any errors or changes to note, please let me know ASAP!
GUIDELINES FOR PICK-UP AT THE AIRPORT:
Students' final flight segments to Denver include several airlines and city departures, as noted in the attachment. So they will arrive at various concourses. The general instructions are: Students should take the underground tram from their concourse to the Terminal and Baggage Claim. (Even if you arrive at Concourse A and could walk, you should take the train so that it delivers you to the expected meeting place.) We ask that faculty welcomers park their vehicles and wait for the students at the top of the escalators in the Terminal. It may be helpful to have a sign with "FTU" or the student names, if you do not know the students personally. If you miss connections there, the back-up meeting place is at the Baggage Claim for the flight. In a couple of cases we have asked students to wait a couple of hours to join another arriving group. In those cases, the sensible meeting place is near the Baggage Claim.
Cell phone numbers for the welcoming faculty members are in the attachment. If students are delayed, or miss the meeting place in the airport, the cell phone number will be useful.
GUIDELINES FOR DELIVERY IN FORT COLLINS:
All but 2 of the students will be living at University Village on West Plum Street. If you arrive reasonably before 22:00, students should check in at the UV office and then proceed to their apartments; check-in may take 15-30 minutes. For evening arrivals for which that is not possible (especially late Friday evening -- note to Stephan Kroll), I think it is true that the arriving students have housemates who will already have arrived. So, the students can go directly to their apartments and then check in the following morning. To those 4 students: can you please confirm that you will have a housemate already arrived?
Two students will be living in Braiden Hall. Braiden is not available for move-in until August 15, so those students will have other interim arrangements. At least one will have a home stay with an International Friends household (and Jay Thang Nugyen, what about you?). I will be in touch about that later. The associated welcoming people for the Braiden students are me and Steve S. (for Jay on Thursday) and Charles (for Nhung on Friday).
COMMUNICATIONS:
Faculty member cell numbers are noted in the attachment. For email, to communicate with the students, please use the "headingtocolorado" address you see in the To line. To communicate with faculty members, use their email address if you know it, or write to me and I will forward the info. Though I am still out of town, I expect to check and process email at least once a day; I will be back in town by the end of Monday.
OTHER:
1. Students will need to check in with the Office of International Programs on the first business day following their arrival. Nam has done this already; we can make these arrangements later.
2. Faculty members who wish cost reimbursement for the airport trip need to be in touch with Barbara in advance.
FINAL NOTE TO STUDENTS:
Complications in international travel, including delays and missed flights, are not infrequent. Just stay cool and if possible try to communicate with us about any change in plan.
Any questions? Please be in touch!
Best regards,
Bob
I and Nhung will both stay at the Borcherts' - our host family until
we move into Braiden Hall.
I am so sorry that I forgot to tell you this earlier.
Yours Sincerely.

Hi Bob,
Yes we all have our roommates coming before us. Thank you very much for the arrangement!
Best,
V
Just to make sure there are no confusions: the arrival dates and times are Colorado, Mountain Daylight Time. Students, please make sure you have communicated it to me that way. Welcome people, you can check the accuracy of the time by looking up the flight number.
Also, I think I will be able to serve as "Info Central" 24-7 in case there are any communication or meeting screw-ups. My number is +1.970.443.4938.
Thanks!
Bob
