Subject: Interview for senior thesis on Humanism?
To: ianca...@gmail.com

Hi Ian,

My name is Sarah Paton and I am a senior in the Religion department at Princeton University. I'm not sure if you will remember me, I met you at the end of the Faithiest book release party two weeks ago!

This year I am writing my senior on the Humanist movement. Most of my studies in the Religion Department until now have focused on ancient Christianity, but for my thesis I wanted a topic closer to my own personal beliefs. I am particularly interested in how groups like the Harvard Humanist Community Project are creating structured and enduring Humanist communities, and the ways that these organizations emotionally and even spiritually benefit their members.

As part of my research, I am hoping to interview members of the Harvard Divinity School Humanists, and this is why I am writing to you. This would be a very quick interview over skype or email about how you came to be involved with Humanism, and how you feel about the meetings and community. I'd also love to talk about your study to become a Humanist Chaplain. I promise to keep it short and low-key!

Please let me know if you would be willing to do an interview with me. Also please pass this email onto anyone else you think might be willing to do an interview with me! I can’t express how helpful it would be to my research, which I will happily share with HCP when I am done.

Sincerely,

Sarah Paton

P.S.  If you would like to ask me more questions about my project, either before you feel comfortable being interviewed or just because you are curious, feel free to email me!
