What: Humanist Spring Break Service Trip Planning Meeting
When: 7pm, Thursday 15th November
Where: The Humanist Center, 12 Eliot Street
Dear Friends,
When I attended the first Spring Break Service Trip with the Humanist Graduate Community at Harvard - a trip to work amid the rubble of post-Katrina New Orleans - I had no idea of the impact it would have on me. Sure, I was prepared to get filthy filling potholes in community baseball fields, to toil on the banks of the Mississippi repainting a cultural park for kids, and to lug equipment around while rebuilding a New Orleans resident's home. But what I didn't expect was that the fellowship provided by the other Humanists on the trip would enable me, over the course of the week, to come out of the closet and accept myself as a gay man.
I can't promise that you will have such a powerful experience as I had. But I can say that the Spring Break Service Trip has been a highlight of my year this year, last year, and the year before.
So join us tomorrow as we discuss where we want to go this time to learn about a social issue, and take some steps to change the world. We need you to help us plan, fundraise, and promote the trip!
See you soon,
