Subject: International Overdose Awareness Month

New COVID-19 Relief Package, Decision Fatigue, and Proper Mask Care
Today is International Overdose Awareness Day. According to The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the United States has the highest drug mortality rate in the world.

In most of the cases, the deaths are avoidable and could have been prevented.

But guilt and shame play a big role in this epidemic. There is still shame, still a stigma, still a fear of reaching out for help. We can do better. So let’s bring awareness to this important topic.

Look out for your friends and family. If you suspect someone has a substance abuse problem, call us at HCAMS. We can help, will keep your information completely confidential, and protect your job.
Together with greater awareness, we can break the stigma.

The package includes:

  1. Covid-19 Burnout Assessment
  2. Covid-19 Burnout and Returning to Work Training
  3. Covid-19 Survival Guide
  4. Guide to the New Coronavirus Laws

You can gain access to all of the items above by visiting our New COVID-19 Relief page.

We recommend taking the Assessment, scheduling the Training, and then following up with the Survival Guide and New Laws Guide.

Contact us after you receive your score to schedule your COVID-19 BURNOUT and RETURNING TO WORK Training, covering the new laws that protect your job during this time, and proven techniques to manage your stress and anxiety in quarantine and when out at work.

With the pandemic causing fear, anxiety, illness, job insecurity, and forcing many who are not comfortable with technology to adapt online, many members are resigning from their jobs. And that means they are leaving their unions. While we have seen those who are working show an increase in interest in joining unions, we want you to make sure you retain all of your members. Scheduling an additional member benefit like the new COVID-19 Burnout and Returning to Work Training is one way to make sure members, who are already stressed, don't make any rash decisions without all the information they need.

Do you have a high school or college student in your life? Schools and universities are starting back up this time of year, and many are virtual once again. It can be tough especially for students to find focus and keep up with their classes online. But we have a ton of tips and best practices for them to implement.

Studies have shown time and time again that too much time on social media can have a negative impact on your mental health. And now with the pandemic, scrolling time has gone up (we even check this on our Burnout Assessment). Luckily we have three phases of detox to try: beginners, intermediate, and advanced.

Most of us are under so much stress we have barely noticed it. And while we tend to think of stress as a feeling, there are a lot of physical things happening in the body thanks to a stress hormone known as cortisol. If you've been having an upset stomach for no reason, or more frequent headaches, stress and anxiety might be the culprit.

You may feel like the weight of the world is on your shoulders and you have so much to do, but you deserve a break and a chance to catch your breath. Try this simple, easy breathing exercise to bring your stress down a few notches.
We are a Union EAP, here to help you, especially during this time of uncertainty.

If you're feeling stress, anxiety, depression, sleeplessness or any other signs of behavioral health issues, or substance abuse, give us a call. We can help.
HealthCare Assistance with Member Support (HCAMS) provides no-cost, confidential services to individuals with substance abuse and other behavioral health problems that may be affecting their work, health and/or personal lives.
