Thanks again for a great competition, and congrats to OUSIA for winning against humanity (425-200)!  I hope everyone enjoyed it, and we'll be following up with additional information as we put together videos, etc.

I hope that everyone who submitted a system would strongly consider submitting to this book.  The organizers will be happy to read drafts, give advice, etc.

We'll also be putting together a future competition, and I hope everyone considers participating again in the future (stay tuned to this mailing list for updates).

Best,

Jordan

Dear colleagues, in relation to the Springer NIPS first cup book, few additional information:

This is the link to submit your contributions until 15th January 2018:

https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/User/Login?ReturnUrl=%2FCTSP2017%2FSubmission%2FManage

Please note that although there are no specific format/layout restrictions in order to submit your PDF contribution for revision, we will ask you to submit final latex sources for Springer book editing. In this sense, using Springer chapter/book templates are a good option in order to do not delay final publication of the book (but any other latex template is also allowed).

We are not going to make the Call for Chapters public since it is restricted to you as NIPS 2017 competitor organizers and you are also responsible of sharing this information with top participants of your competition, those you think can be interested to contribute with a good chapter based on their challenge participation. In the case you think a particular relevant researcher can contribute but a key method or survey chapter in the field of the competition, please also share this information with them.

Book chapter length: no specific restrictions. Less than 10 pages will be not good. Maximum length is tentatively 30 pages, but can be increased if needed without problems.

Chapter revision is single-blind. Please include author names, affiliations, and contact information within submission.

Please, in the unfortunate case you cannot contribute with a chapter for this book, inform us as soon as possible.

If you need further information, have any doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you very much for your great competitions and see you soon at NIPS.

Dear competition organizers,
This is an email just to inform you about the plans for our NIPS competition book.

"Book chapter submission from organizers and participants to the Springer Series on Challenges in Machine Learning: NIPS 2017

Title: First NIPS cup

Subtitle: The NIPS’17 competition program

● Competitions volume chapter submission 15th January, 2018
● Book chapter acceptance notification 15th March, 2018
● Camera ready submission 15th April, 2018
● Tentative publication of the book 1st July, 2018"

Please note we expect you can share this information with all of your participants, especially the winners. We expect at least one chapter from each competition organizer/s where you comment about your challenge and outcomes, as well as contributed chapters from top ranked participants of your challenge. Of course any other participant with a good approach even if he/she didn't achieve a top position is more than welcome. Be also free to disseminate this information with relevant researchers in the field of your competition that you feel can contribute with a survey or a key method chapter on the topic to make the volume even stronger.

For any doubts or any particular request please do not hesitate to contact us. We will share with you in few weeks some other information regarding template and submission link.

Please also on 13th November as late lets us know of any updates to be done in our final problem, then it will be posted at NIPS webpage:

Thank you and best regards
