Dear NIPS 2017 competition organizers, few updates before Christmas regarding upcoming NIPS First competition book:

-Given that few of you asked us for 2 weeks extension of the deadline. Final deadline in order to submit your book chapter is 1st February 2018. Please share this information with your colleagues and competition participants.

https://cmt3.research.microsoft.com/User/Login?ReturnUrl=%2FCTSP2017%2FSubmission%2FManage

We recommend using springer book chapter templates to do not delay final book publication, but any other latex template is allowed. Submission is NOT double blind, please include your names and affiliations within the chapter for revision. No restricted minimum-maximum length of the chapter.

We received confirmation from most of you that you are planning to submit at least one chapter to this book. In the unfortunate case this will not be possible, please advise.

-In case you plan to also publish your book chapter in ArXiv please take into account the following information:

- everybody needs to transfer the copyright to Springer

- authors can share the “manuscript” that is the version that is not type-setted by Springer. They still need to give credit to Springer, i.e. write on the preprint that “this is a preprint of a springer book chapter from book xxx”, so what is cited ends up being the Springer book chapter. This includes posting on ArXiv.

It means should be no problem in the case you want to publish your contribution in ArXiv, but in that case please wait until you receive acceptance notification of your submission (should expend very few weeks!) before publishing it on Arxiv since the order in this case may have implications.

-Extended editorial with competition organizers: by the first half of January we will share with you a draft of the extended editorial so that you can also contribute. Please in the case you didn’t send us the list of authors (competition organizers) for this introductory chapter from your competition, provide us that information.

Thank you and merry Christmas!
