Finally the weather looks HOT this year. it's predicted to be in the mid 90's in Baker during the rally. What's this mean? It means that it will be hot as Hell in the canyon so if that's on your route agenda remember that the tar snakes will be soft and slippery, the pavement will be soft under your side stand and your body will demand LOTS of liquid. This isn't meant to discourage you from riding to Hells Canyon Dam, just be prepared. Leave early, ride safe and bring water.
The Tamarack Trail, The Little Dragon, Gunsight Mountain and Road Rash Pass are all cooler routes. These all have mountain passes and should have temps in the mid 70's. Leave early so you can return to Baker in early afternoon for all the fun. Friday it's the KickStart Party at the Veteran Memorial Hall. 7-10pm FREE chow, a great place to meet your friends and make new friends, plan routes and events. Saturday is jam packed with stuff to do. The Hells Canyon Motorcycle show on Main Street. Bikes start going on display around 4 with trophy presentation at 6pm. Then it's back to the Veterns Hall for Poison'us FREE concert. 6pm till they stand playing anymore. Not into music, then head over to the Baker Fairgrounds for FLAT TRACK racing. Sign up to race (yes YOU can race) at 6pm racing starts at 8pm.
This year we have a record number of vendors - so there will be lots to see and buy! Don't forget High Desert Harley-Davidson and Sawtooth Indian, they have a complete indoor showroom on Main Street. Clothes, accessories and motorcycles. Buy a new bike at the rally? Yes, hundreds have over the history of the rally. EZ terms, great selection, trades welcome. So if your ride is getting a little long in the tooth let the experts change your riding life! It's EASY!
Finally, Baker City is full of wonderful welcoming folks who have rolled out the red carpet for the rally riders year after year. Please keep this in mind and be a great guest.
Thanks,
Steve
