Hey HCGHR!

It was great to meet so many of you at our first general meeting this afternoon. This list is not typically one for spam, but I wanted to personally let you know of a trip I did my freshman j-term to New Mexico. It served as a unique introduction to global health at Harvard. Despite being in the United States, the trip confronted several global health problems that we face domestically. A big topic of conversation in the global health community focuses on the creation of "an other" -- and in global health, we often run the risk of seeing global health problems as problems "we" (well-off westerners) don't have but that "others" do. This trip dispels that notion.

I've attached the blurb and the application. If you have any questions, email the address here or me personally. I'm no longer affiliated with the trip, but it's too important of an experience not to share with a group like ours.

Enjoy the fleeting slices of sunlight (and explore Oktoberfest in the Square)
