There are still some details outstanding with respect to our meeting
this week. I have finally managed to speak with Pam about using the
writing centre. Unfortunately, it is already booked, so we need to
find an alternative venue. Also catering is not yet confirmed,
although an email has been sent requesting a quote.

how should we proceed?

HI all.

Happy to help but It is difficult for me to book a venue for you at this short notice, as I work part-time at a company off campus on Tuesdays.
Someone was also suggesting the Wiser seminar room as an option?
Please phone me early tomorrow (my number is in the signature) if you need and I will try phone PIMD / Wiser for you but might need to get in touch with someone on campus to actually do any paper work, so please advise who that should be in the call.

I am in touch with Olive & Plates as requested and all should be organised tomorrow. (Hopefully in future though to make everyone's lives easier we can get catering and venues cleared further in advance :) )

Thanks

Kate

Hi All

Ok so CB 8 is already booked by other people.
I can't get through to WISER, I will try later.

Does the School of Social Science still have a lounge (who would be the contact person)? The atrium in HGC if we put in some chairs? The Anthropology Museum (contact person?)? Is there anything in the geography building - I feel like there is that room where they have prize giving for tutor training, whats that like?
Im not going to be looking at my emails too closely for the rest of the day, so please text or call me with suggestions/a plan for a way forward and I will get on it.

Why don't we use the politics department seminar room. It should be free

Its my lecture so we could pressure it and try squeeze it into 2 hours.
Just very fair on the students.
But as a worst case scenario that can be our last resort...

Shireen has suggested the sociology tea room is convenient and nice but staff may indeed come in and out...
or RW7014  but is a bit hard to find and not a great venue, though you will not be disturbed.
Thanks for this help!

Shall I try book the tea room and then follow up with RW7014 if there is an issue?

No problem

The requisition for catering is ready at HGC too.
I can get that tomorrow and hand it over to someone if thats the easiest for you?
Else if someone wants to pop to HGC today and pick it up just let me know.

I have tentatively book the WISER seminar room for tomorrow 4-6pm. Can
someone confirm whether a venue has been confirmed. I will hold the
WISER booking until I hear back from someone. I'm at email until 4pm.

Hi all, it seems that we now have two possible venues. Since it's already after 4pm and Leigh-Ann will have left campus, I think we should go with the one venue that's confirmed - that being the Sociology tearoom. The heads of that department shouldn't be a disruption to our conversation.

Thanks to Leigh-Ann and Kate for holding down the logistics.

Hi All

Thanks for the clarification Nic.

As such the venue will be the Sociology tearoom, CB234
I have made arrangements that you approach Laura Bloem, and she will kindly open for you.

I will forward Mbuyseni and Ahmed's details to the caterers to act as contact people for food delivery (I will be in a lecture will not be able to take any calls).
Upon delivery from Oliver and Plates you will need to supply them with a internal requisition form.
This is on Amhed's desk in CB36 (with serviettes for the event).

Cooldrinks (3x 6pack cans: coke/sprite/liquifruit) for the event are in the fridge in the printing room politics adjacent to Gillian Renshaw, the Politics administartor's, office.
Please ensure some one collects these before 3:30 pm as Gill will be locking up the office and leaving then.
They can be taken directly to the sociology tea room as we have requested this venue from 3:00pm.

I have chatted through these details with Mbuyiseni:
1.picking up the requisition,
2. collecting the cooldrinks, and
3. receiveing the catering.
Please be in touch with him if you would like to lend a hand.

I will be available on 072 229 9613 till 13:15 (then I teach through to 5pm) if there are any other questions.

All the best for today!
