Howdy all,

It's that time of the year again when we have an opportunity together.  The AGM is an important date and we implore all of our members to turn up at 6.30 pm this Thursday, 11th June  at Biddy's to listen to the president's message, get an update on how the club has travelled this year and cast your vote.  If you have a desire to help out and shape the direction of Hamilton Blues Society this is the meeting to attend and get noticed.  We will be calling for nominations for the officers (President, Treasurer, & Secretary) and we also need committee members. We will (of course) then have our usual blues night immediately after that.

Also of high interest is this festival being organised by Gerry Clark.  If you would like to participate you should contact Gerry directly.

Bonjour, musicians, music clubs, teachers, students etc. Sunday, 21 June is Fête de la Musique. This is World Music Day - a celebration of music, which was first started in France, but which is now celebrated throughout the world. The Fête de la Musique is above all a free popular fête, open to any participants (amateur or professional) who want to perform in it and allows the expression of all styles of music in a cheerful atmosphere. Its purpose is to promote music, the slogan Faites de la musique (Make music), a sound-a-like of Fête de la Musique, being used to endorse this goal.

The Alliance Française de Hamilton supports this event and encourages musicians to enter into the spirit of it by getting out and playing music around the city. To help this happen, Gerry Clark is organising venues for musicians to play in public, such as Centreplace, Civic Square, Garden Place, Westfield Shopping Centre, Victoria Street cafés, churches, etc.  Small groups who don’t need much room can organise their own place to play.  Gerry is coordinating and is looking for anyone who can play a musical instrument and/or sing. If you would like to play at our Fête de la Musique, or know anyone else who would like to, please contact Gerry Clark at gerry...@slingshot.co.nz.  It would be fabulous to have as many performers as can be catered for at as many venues as possible.  Remember, it is all about the celebration and enjoyment of music. Let’s have fun making music together.
“Vivre ensemble la musique”

See y’all Thursday night at 6.30 at Biddy’s

Hi again Blues Lovers!

Just to clarify, the AGM is 6:30 pm tomorrow... we’ll be quick with it, but want to hear from you.  So come along and see how YOUR club is going, it’s been a great year, and if you have any suggestions or thoughts on how we can benefit members or improve things please come along and we can table these ideas for the new committee.  Note you will have to be paid up member to speak at AGM.

And speaking of... SUB TIME!!  To continue the success of the club please bring along $10 to renew your membership, remember your benefits include a discount at Shearers, drink deals at Biddy’s and member-only prize draws every month.  If you want to renew your membership (or join up) before the start of the AGM, please get there early.

The jam night after that should be another great night, could be a few extra Fielday’s punters around so get down early for a good seat!

MUSO'S -- like all other blues fans we're saddened by the news of the passing of B.B. King.  We'd like to encourage bands to play his music as this month's jam, but if you do could you please let us know in advance so we can let you know if anyone else's set clashes with yours.  Might be an idea to have a backup song in case anyway.

If you would like a reminder of the genius of this Blues legend check this out:
