Dear Financial Members

As you may be aware, the end of the financial year rolled around again on April Fools Day, which means your subscriptions for the 2022-2023 year fall due, BUT it also mean you have the option to select the next HBS Committee.

Please have a look at the hamilton blues society nz Facebook page, that will provide some information regarding sponsoring somebody onto the Committee, or in other words, how to go about nominating someone. Don't forget the 'NZ' bit on the name otherwise you'll be looking at our Sister Society HBS Ontario, Canada.

Before nominating someone though, just take the time to see if the person you are intending to nominate can in fact get involved with the set-up process, and then the pack-down after the event. Normally through the year HBS has only two main events: Thursday Night and Sunday Arvo Blues at Biddy's, plus an occasional side event or concert.  There are two BIG HBS festivals held annually: HBS Pirongia Blues Festival mid- March and Easter Bluestock Blues Festival. In addition, in 2023 HBS will be involved with Cambridge Autumn Festival (late March), and other Festivals run across the network, Auckland, Rotorua, and further afield, in which HBS involvement will be expected later in 2022.

Last night, because this week coincides with Easter/ANZAC and many people will be on holiday with a slightly extended break between the two long weekends, the Committee agreed to extend the nomination period to:-

NEW AGM DATE: 9 June 2022 at 6pm Biddy's back bar
CLOSING DATE FOR NOMINATIONS: 12 May with an absolute deadline of 19 June 2022.

Nominations have been received for the Executive (Chair, Secretary, Treasurer), but we are keen to have more for the Committee. If you know someone who may be interested but they are unsure, ask them to ring me at the number below.  It is expected that all Committee members will assist with events, and that means set-up, pack-down of equipment, door management, and includes moving equipment for away festivals (where required). Just remember, whereas those who pop along to an event may be there for 4 hours only, the support personnel are often there for another hour or two either side of the event. Each event entails a lot more work than the organisers are given credit for.

All details regarding the nominees will be circulated to members after Thursday 19 May 2022.
