When
people think about innovation, one of the first things that come to
their minds is start-up companies. The successful startups such as
Google and Facebook are innovation engines that have transformed our
daily life. However, have you thought about that large corporations can
innovate from inside as well?
In
fact, in recent years, innovation inside a large corporation has gained
more and more attention. The April topic for BoYa Forum will be
intraprenuership. Everybody knows Steve Jobs is an entrepreneur but few
know that he is also an intrapreneur. MacIntosh and the iconic iDevices
are great examples of intrepreneurship.
In this BoYa Forum, you will learn:
--What are the unique benefits of intrapreneurship?
--What are the challenges facing this kind of innovation?
--How could intrapreneurship be very rewarding?
--How could it help you stand out in a large corporation setting and build a successful career?
We
are extremely delighted to have our distinguished speaker Dr. Baoxing
Chen, a Fellow of Analog Devices, the first Chinese who have achieved
this highest technical rank in the multi-billion dollar corporation,
share his personal experience in helping start a successful new business
within Analog Devices and discuss what it takes and how
intrapreneurship has helped his career.
Dr.
Baoxing Chen joined Analog Devices (ADI) in 1997 after he graduated
from University of Michigan with a Ph. D in Physics and a M.S. in
Electrical Engineering. His thesis, “Growth and Characterization of
Novel Thermoelectric Materials” won him the Terwilliger Prize, the most
outstanding Ph. D. thesis award. Dr. Chen also has a B.S. in Physics
from Nanjing University. He pioneered integrated signal and power
isolation using micro-transformers that has transformed a billion dollar
industry. He has been leading iCoupler® and isoPower® technology
developments in ADI that have found wide commercial success. Dr. Chen
has published over 30 papers in areas ranging from materials, devices,
circuits and applications. He holds over 20 US patents.
Dr.
Chen was named ADI Fellow, the company’s highest technical honor, in
2010 for his innovation and leadership. His current research interest is
on integrated isolation technology, integrated magnetics, and
thermoelectric energy harvesting. Dr. Chen is also an adjunct Professor
at Northeastern University.
