I've made a Gazebo-aware model of the OAK-D camera complete with plugins and uploaded it to my Github:

This has the original OAK-D .DAE geometry along with the Gazebo ros_multicamera and standard rgb_camera plugins.
Everything is written up as a chunk of .xacro code that should be fairly easily dropped into an existing URDF.
What you'll get from this is the OAK-D model, with simulated left/right greyscale cameras and center RGB camera.
Running stereo_image_proc will give you a rectified stereo image as well as a PointCloud2 point cloud .
The point cloud is there, but is fairly sparse. I'm not sure why. Maybe I don't have some parameter to stereo_image_proc or one of the camera plugins tuned right.

Hope that helps some of you who are experimenting with the OAK-D and might want to have a model available for simulation.

I love these how-to experience threads on ToF sensors, motors, cameras, and...!

I, too, have been frustrated by trying to install RealSense and OAK-D cameras on the NASA/JPL Open Source Rover.

I just know that I'm not in a position to make use of all this information at the moment and wonder how this info can be preserved and categorized for future reference?

We at USAi Labs Houston intend to have a "Library" as park of our in-development web site for such gems.  Are these posts available in archive at HBRC?

Perhaps our groups could collaborate on a series of practical, theory + experience articles on essential aspects of robotics?

Since "Jim" to y'all refers to Jim Nunzio, you can call me,

Welcome to the club, James. Here's our website: https://www.hbrobotics.org/

You'll see "Join Our Mailing List " on the right side." This is the archive for the mailing list. It's a Google Group: https://groups.google.com/g/hbrobotics

Note the "Meeting Highlights." This is the archive for the General Meetings: https://www.hbrobotics.org/index.php/meeting-archive/

We also have a GitHub, but it needs updating: https://github.com/hbrobotics

Hope to see you at the General Meeting on Wednesday, April 27. We always have Show-and-Tell.

Thanks,
