Rebirth of The Sacramento Robotics Group..

Hey Camp, Just in case you didn't already know it your a Robotic Rockstar.

 

Beer2D2, Lynxbot and I just got back from the first meeting of the reformed Sacramento Robotics Group. Your name and the name of the HomeBrew Robotics Club came up several times. It was a good meeting about 10 robots and their maker's showed up. We had a nice introduction to the group and news about upcomming event's like RoboGames (April 20-22th) and the Maker Faire. (May 19-20th) Then a show and tell. I met some nice folks and saw some good stuff. I even tested Lynxbot with it's Arduino Mega 2560 reading multiple ultrasonic and infrared sensors talking to a Lynxmotion SSC-32 servo control board with a serial link without destroying anything. Not too bad since I wrote half of the sensor software this afternoon and barely tested it (as usual)..;)

I'm thinkin' roadtrip. :-))) Great news on the Lynxbot! Is it still Ethel's head or has it taken on a life of it's own?

Hi Camp,

Indeed, you are a Robotics Rockstar.

Sacrobotics would like to adopt the tabletop challenge in Sacramento,
and I can't think of a better person to introduce the challenge to the
group. Our next two meetings are 8MAR12 and 12APR12 (the day before
Parallax Expo I believe). If you see an opportunity to share your
robots with us, let me know. I am in the process of selecting topics
for the next couple of meetings.

Honestly, I extend an invitation to anyone in HBRC who would like to
present at a Sacrobotics event. And I am open to recommendations for
presenters in our area if anyone has ideas.

Well Lynxbot is actually a test Bot for Ethel. I use it to test Micro controllers, components, sensors and the HomeBrewed software I hack together. He is a safe/fun little guy that evolved from a Parallax Boebot chassis. The nice thing about him is, unlike Ethel, he doesn't destroy things when he collides with them. Of course like many of my robots he has run over my foot and hit a wall or two.  I have leard a lot from him so far. Big things like walls are easy to detect, small things like chair or table legs are not. It's a complex world out there and the Trial and Terror testing will continue.
