Today I evaluated the necessity of editing the eeprom to enable PSU_MAX_CURRENT=5000 and USB=1600ma and OAK-D-Lite Powering situation:
1) The Raspberry Pi 5 boots and runs reliably powered by the PlusRoc DC-DC Converter with or without eeprom editing without an OAK-D-LITE plugged in.
2)  My Oak-D-Lite must not be powered from the Raspberry Pi USB-3. It must be powered separately with its own PowerBank using a Power/Data Splitter, otherwise RaspBerry Pi 5 powering is unreliable.
3) Editing the eeprom
$ sudo -E rpi-eeprom-config --edit)
Add: PSU_MAX_CURRENT=5000
reboot without sd card displays power:supply:Custom 5000 ma CCI PWIC reset normal
Reboot with SD card: Running:
$ vcgencmd get_config usb_max_current_enable displays
usb_max_current_enable=1 , meaning USB max current is 1600 ma
OAK-D_LITE still cannot be powered from the Raspberry Pi 5 USB-3.
4) NOT editing the eeprom, i.e the default image, meaning there is no PSU_MAX_CURRENT=5000 in the eeprom results:.
  $ vcgencmd get_config usb_max_current_enable displays
usb_max_current_enable=0, meaning USB current is limited to 900 ma
And the Raspberry Pi PD is configured to not permit being powered by 5000 ma
Booting without SD  displays: power: supply: USB-C 900 ma CC1 PWIC reset normal.

Bottom Line: Powering the Raspberry Pi 5 with a PlusRoc DC-DC Converter needs to have the eeprom edited to enable maximum 1600 ma USB power and 5000 ma powering. And to repeat still can't power an OAK-D-Lite. Ross
