We're going to focus on building MockBOTs (fake TurtleBots).

The MockBOT

    And here's a free PDF!

The MockBOT
https://www.camppeavy.com/articles/the_mockbot.pdf

This will be a great introduction to ROS 2 and the path towards building a useful robot (one that can carry a decent payload). Please join us if you are interested in building this robot.

Sorry I missed it! Tried to access but couldn’t. Was driving, so maybe an internet issue?

Next time! 😊

Didn't see you trying to log in. We were there until 8:30.

Sorry,

I believe I have my secondhand D7 cleared, cleaned, and ready for ROS conversion.   I'd like to get a baseline using its original software, to confirm that there are no hardware issues that first need to be addressed.

The original Neato apps appear to be no longer available in the App Store.  Can anyone recommend one of the third-party IOS apps for controlling the D7?

Thanks,

You do not need an app to test the robot. Just press the start button. Does it charge?

Good news, the Botvac appears to charge well.  Bad news, it moves about 10cm from the base then stops, displaying a red Spot-Cleaning warning light.

Because it is changing, I'm assuming both the charger and the battery are good.
Because it is moving in a straight line, I'm assuming both motors are functional.
I suspect that nav sensors or vacuum function internals are the cause.

The side brush is missing, but I wouldn't think that would prevent it from vacuuming. (This makes me wonder, how much of the vacuum hardware components one can remove and still use it just as a bot.).  Side brushes have been ordered, just in case that is the blocking error.

It wouldn't hurt to open it up, and replace the Lidar belt, etc., but I think I'll first connect to the Diag port, and see if I can read the error codes, before ordering a bunch of replacement parts it may not need.

Hi all,

I've been lurking on the boards here for a few weeks now, I'm a Mechatronics student at Mission College now and I've been wanting to come to the meetings but most of my classes are in the evenings right on top of the meetings.  Nonetheless, I was just reading about the MOCKbots:

And it looks like an incredible introductory piece for me.  Just wanted to say thanks and let you know you do have appreciative audience outside of those you do see at meetings.  :)

Very fine, James! Build this robot, let us know if you have ???'s.

Don't know if you have this.

Neato Programmer’s Manual

Plug into the micro-USB run "help." It will spill all the commands. Type "help" followed by the specific command and it will give you the details (syntax and options).

To test the LDS (Laser Distance Sensor (Lidar)) run "testmode on" and then "getldsscan." You should see the LDS scans.

Enjoy,
Camp
