The objective of this presentation is to show you how to build a useful personal robot. A personal robot needs to carry a significant payload to be "useful." The "MockBOT" Smart Table is a step in this direction. While imperfect (it can't negotiate stairs, open doors, or manipulate objects), it does provide a generic delivery capability. That is, you put something on top of the MockBOT, instruct the robot where to go, and with a high degree of confidence, expect it to arrive. The tabletop is the "end effector." While most end effectors are tools like grippers or welders at the end of a robotic arm, this concept redefines the work surface itself as the point of interaction.

We will give away the book in PDF format during the meeting, but don't let that stop you from purchasing a copy. It goes to a good cause (us).
