Following up on our recent Zoom discussion regarding the challenges of gluing certain plastics together, I wanted to share some information on the subject.
As we discussed, some plastics have very low surface tension and are neutrally electrically charged, which means they do not easily attract other materials for adhesion. To successfully bond these materials, a two-part system consisting of a solvent (primer) and a glue is required.
I found a helpful video that demonstrates how to glue Polyethylene or Polypropylene using a Loctite 2-part plastic gluing system:
