In this evening's Mockers meeting, there was a discussion about the Autonomy Labs package and ROS version. The question was how it could run on Jazzy when Jazzy wasn't an option in the GitHub drop-down menu.

I reinstalled the Autonomy Labs package on a fresh Ubuntu 24/Jazzy install, following the Autonomy Labs GitHub instructions (no ROS version specified). I installed it in my ROS workspace (~/ros2_ws). It installs, builds, and runs on Jazzy. I assume it installs the "Iron" version, but it seems to run fine.

Is there a ROS 2 package that can connect my Pi to an Arduino?

Micro-ROS is the primary solution for connecting an Arduino to the Raspberry Pi.

Microros? That sounds like more than a little  trouble, especially if I want to run the botvac and navigation packages.

I guess I will have to revert my workstation and my pi, back to the earlier version since I want to run an ultrasonic sensor, like you are.

Stick with the HomeBrewed Ultrasonic Sensor for now.

Your workstation can be Jazzy, and the Pi can be Humble. It works fine.

It looks like  I’m going to have to burn linux and ROS onto another SD card.
