OK, so you've been invited to HBL Fabric lab group.  Or invited yourself.  Or whatever.  The important thing is that you're considering joining in our wacky activities.

Here's some stuff you should know:

HBL (HackerBot Labs) is a semi-public hackerspace that has been voiding warranties since 2005.  The sewing/crafts space is a recent addition.  We've been doing crafty type stuff since the beginning; but HBL has mostly been aimed at electronics and other more 'hackerish' pursuits so crafting has never gained much traction.  The sewing/craft space is aimed at changing that by having a dedicated time to do cool crafty things. And to also provide a space for costumers to play, teach, and do other fun stuff, we’re opening up the Fabric lab more often and to more people.

For a good introduction to the lab and how to get here: https://wiki.hackerbotlabs.com/VisitorPage
We also have a blog here: www.hackerbotlabs.com

We are currently meeting every Wednesday from 7:00 to 10:00 pm and some weekends afternoons.  There will sometimes be a theme associated with Wednesday night, although people are still welcome to come in and work on their own stuff so they are considerate of the primary event.

You can get to our calendar here to see when craft nights are happening.

To introduce yourself or if you would like more information, simply post in the introduction thread.  It's not absolutely necessary to do that but it is nice to know when we've got new faces incoming.  The building is locked except for craft/sewing times, or with prior arrangements.  If the person running the craft night is going to be delayed, they will post when the lab is going to be open and unlocked.

Visits are $5 cash.  However, the first time you attend is free.  Themed craft sessions may require you to bring materials or may have a kit that the leader will charge for.  All details will be outlined in advance so that you don't get any surprises.

We welcome any new ideas for craft night themes and workshops.  We have a Google doc there we keep out ideas here.  Feel free to add new ideas to the list.  Also, if you would like to run a workshop, post a thread on the group and we can discuss details.

Everyone that attends must sign in for insurance purposes.  Also, first timers must sign a liability waiver before using any of the tools or machines.

HBL and craft night are dedicated to being a welcoming and inclusive place.  That means don't be racist, ageist, sexist, orientation-ist, etc, etc.  If there is anything that is bothering you or that you feel was not in accordance with being inclusive - either on the part of the attendees or the folks running things - please let us know and we'll try to do our best to improve it.

Hope to see you all here!
