Manystone sour recipes use more sugar and less bourbon. I prefer my bourbon cocktails to be more like something you imagine your grandfather drank back in the day, which means trying to find the right balance to go in the opposite direction, i.e. more bourbon and less sugar. This recipe is the one Lewis has perfected.

In January, I had an assignment for Kerrang Magazine to photograph Stone Sour at Irving Plaza in NYC. This was a unique show because Irving Plaza was a relatively small venue for Stone Sour, and thus a chance to capture a more intimate performance.
The stage at Irving Plaza is relatively low, so the perspective for this show was actually quite nice. Much lower than the stage for the Pageant, where I've shot for so many years. Even with the ego riser, singer Corey Taylor was still at a manageable height.
I was pleasantly surprised by the lighting for this show, which was pretty blindingly bright for a club gig. I dropped to ISO 400 at the lowest, given the relatively close proximity of the white lights to Corey and of course the white suite that he wore for the first two songs.

There is something about an Amaretto Stone Sour that makes me think of my cousin. I am oftentimes connecting food and drinks to memories. When I made these Amaretto Stone Sours, I instantly thought of hanging out with my cousin. Amaretto Stone Sours have great flavor, are easy to drink, and have simple ingredients that any good bar should already have stocked!
This sweet and tangy combination of Amaretto, sweet and sour, and orange juice makes the perfect Amaretto Stone Sour. Why we don't make more drinks with amaretto?!? I do have a few amaretto drinks, but I was reminded how much I love it again when I tasted this.
I try to have a well-stocked bar for mixers. Orange juice and also sweet and sour mix on a hand at any given time. Those are standard mixers in so many cocktails. So, when I decided to make this amaretto stone sour on a whim, I had the ingredients and even had maraschino cherries and oranges too.
Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and equal parts of amaretto, sweet and sour mix, and orange juice. Shake it up for 15 to 20 seconds adn the outside starts to get frosty. Then pour into a cocktail glass filled with ice. This recipe will make one cocktail to add to a 9 ounce cocktail glass. Feel free to double or triple the recipe to make more than one cocktail.
I love a fruity cocktail no matter the season. My typical weekend drink of choice is a classic lemon drop or this Hawaiian Stone Sour. I take a tropical twist on the classic whiskey sour cocktail with pineapple juice for the perfect summer drink!
Whiskey is one of the most popular liquors, and my husband loves it. I love the smokey, rich flavor of this whiskey sour cocktail with homemade sour mix. The added pineapple juice truly takes this drink to the next level.
You have heard of an Amaretto Sour no doubt, correct? Well, the Amaretto Stone Sour is its eccentric sibling. Never receiving enough attention growing up, it overcompensates by wearing bright splashes of orange to mask the booze and its overall sour disposition. Yeah, the Amaretto Stone Sour may have some mommy issues it needs to work through, but it is a dang good amaretto cocktail!
Whether you are looking for brunch cocktails or a nice refreshing cocktail to serve on lazy afternoons, this is a great drink for just about any occasion. This simple recipe is effortless to make, and can easily be scaled up to serve at any party. Your guests will love how well the smooth amaretto flavor pairs with the bright splashes of citrus!
I find keeping a jigger on hand makes cocktail creation much easier. There is a reason every bar uses them, plus their compact size makes it easy to keep them out of the way when it isn't happy hour at home! I recommend purchasing a simple double jigger, its 1&2 oz sizes will be versatile enough for just about any cocktail! These are often included when purchasing a cocktail shaker, which is also a must-have for any home bar.
The amaretto stone sour recipe is very easy to make. Begin by adding ice to a cocktail glass, then pour in one part amaretto. Next, add one part soda, followed by a splash of orange juice. That's it! Garnish your amaretto cocktail with an orange slice, cherries, or both!
An Amaretto Sour was my go-to drink in a past life. I've never had a stone sour, but I think I need to try one. I'm sure it's a nice change from my other go-to drinks (the Whiskey Sour and the White Russian).
Stone Sour is, in my opinion, the best Iowa has to offer, even better than Iowa sweet corn. As a fellow Iowan, it was my duty to attend a live Stone Sour show, and I got the chance to do that when they played the House of Marquee Theatre in February, 2014.
Stone Sour has been nominated for several Grammy awards for the Best Metal Performance and this live show was clear evidence of why it was nominated. A non-stop, back-to-back series of endless hits delivers a show that any metal fan would appreciate.

Albeit for a brief hiatus in the late 90s, American hard rock outfit Stone Sour have been playing the live circuit since 1992 and this wealth of experience translates into one hell of a live show. The group has always been a commercial hit on both sides of the Atlantic so the touring schedule is gruelling as they endeavour to reach the whole fanbase.
There is no sign of the travel waring on the ageing musicians tonight as they come out onto stage and tackle and grapple with their discography. The huge riffs and massive percussion keeps the whole room buzzing with a rock static as the fans raise their arms and form the rock symbol with their hands. Lead vocalist Corey Taylor simply sneers in a quiet impressed way before launching into singles including 'Bother' and 'Through Glass'. It is clear that all these years later the fans sitll absolutely love these rock anthems and throw themselves into it whilst the quintet perform with expert proficiency up onstage.
The show was awesome, started of with an explosion of pyrotechnics and the band rocking Corey Taylor front stage head banging with the crowd. The band were on top form performing the staple Hydrograd heavyweights along with classics from the first album like Get Inside, Cold Reader and Bother.
I was super excited to see Stone Sour, as I had never seen them live. I think Corey Taylor has an awesome voice and he seems like he would have a good stage presence. I may have expected too much, because though they were alright, that was it. Just average. Corey did try, he had a lot of energy, but his vocals were drowned out by the guitars. The sound was poor, and so it was difficult to hear him sing. He came out later to perform a song with Korn, and sounded awesome. So, I would say that they were fine, just not great. I would go see them again in the future and hope for a better show.
Not the band and show which was great but the sound was dreadful. Music was not clear and Corey's voice could hardly be heard. Not sure if this was due to the mic or the fact the sound was only aimed straight ahead of the stage and not for those at the sides.
Great set and Corey was really on form. Festival Hall in Melbourne is awesome on the floor but this time we were in the seats and Jesus, they squeeze you in. It was do uncomfortable...I'll be back on the floor next time.
Anyway, the gig itself was a pretty cool mix of old and new...loud and softer. The crowd were really involved as always at stone sour gigs in Aussie. Overall a fantastic night and highly recommended to anyone with an ounce of rock in their bones.
Stone Sour delivered another great performance last night. Full of energy as they always. However, the sound control wasn't very good. It was really tough hear Corey's voice. Basically the drum sound was dominating the whole scene.
