NOTE: This will be available for current user only. If you want to install for all the users in the PC. (2) Move the extracted folder to /opt directory (it requires admin permission. In terminal - sudo mv '/home/sudhakar/Soft/FileZilla_3.56.0_x86_64-linux-gnu/FileZilla3' '/opt'). Also move the filezilla.desktop file to /usr/share/applications folder. Before moving update Exec= and Icon= location.
Then went back into the terminal and typed "filezilla" to open the program. For me, it opened fine and it created a brand-new default XML file in the old file's place. The site manager options are not affected by this as they are in a different file called "sitemanager.xml" which is in the same directory. So the program opened as a fresh new program with the same site manager options as before.

In filezilla.xml there is the empty element . If you add an installed locale such as en_GB.UTF-8 (use locale -a to find available locales), so that you get en_GB.UTF-8 everything should run smoothly again.
Download libfilezilla-0.23.0 that is needed from here. NOTE: Only libfilezilla-0.11.0 is available in the Ubuntu 18.04 LTS repositories. Also, only libfilezilla-0.19.0 is available in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS repositories.
I've setup a ubuntu 64 bit VM (16.04) using Oracle VirtualBox. Using ftp, I am able to connect to the VM. I am also able to list (ls) the contents of the folder. However I am unable to put files to the VM.
I work under in a docker image, under a VPS!i have install vsftp in my ubuntu 20.04! at the beginning I tested ftp 127.0.0.1 in the command line and everything goes well I created a user and I tested the file transfer.after adding the ssl certificate and I wanted to connect by filezilla or by browser it does not work and the server does not have the ip address 127.0.0.1!how can I fix this please!
In this post, we will cover how to install FileZilla on Ubuntu 22.04 (Jammy Jellyfish) and will also learn how to use filezilla to transfer the files from your local system to remote system and vice-versa.
Not sure if this is a generic ubuntu issue or what.
I installed filezilla via snap.
I then went to Settings / File editing / Use custom editor / then did a browse.
When I tried to look a /usr
guessing that is normal depending upon how the snap is constructed. Maybe the packagers think there is no reason (from a filezilla point-of-view) for the app to access the hosts protected system folders such as /usr
I haven't been able to do it in Arch. OBVIOUSLY there is something I need to be running in the background as some sort of agent to handle the handshake for filezilla, but I don't know what it is. Haven't found it by searching (not that you CAN'T, just that I haven't found it).
Hmm ok. Did you try using keychain described in the arch wiki that i pointed you too? I use that and it works with my sftp (i dont use filezilla). I add it to my zlogin as described in the article. This allows me to give my ssh passphrase on login so i dont need to use it again. You could also use the x11-ssh-askpass which gives you a dialog at the start of your session (seems a bit invasive to me)
(To be clear, the issue is not getting key authentication to work on Arch, it's getting it to work in Filezilla on Arch. There is some internet rumbling that Filezilla is picky about such things. All I know for sure is it works in Ubuntu without having to run anything that the bloated ubuntu already runs - and I presume it's the gnome-keyring that is doing the ssh handshake. But I have zero interest in going down the gnome path.)
Hmmm ok. Well the only other thing i can suggest is that you can add your Private Key to Filezilla (in Settings->Connection->SFTP ). If your private key uses a passphrase filezilla will as you for the passphrase and create a ppk file which is your private key without a passphrase.
Hi Rahul,
Thanks for the installation guidelines. It was a breeze and I am able to transfer files especially books into my ipad from the desktop. On the ipad i am using a ftp client from easyftppro. The sudo apt-get install filezilla asked me a confirmation question and was hanging with no activity. I had no alternative but to cycle power to the pc,
thanks once again,
regards,

In this example with the -p 3001:21 you are exposing your port 21 of the container to your port 3001 of the Server, so you can enter with filezilla with the ip of your server for host, and 3001 as port.
