Hello folks. When I issued an invitation to everyone to meet for a drink and a chat at The Anchor on Wednesday 28th January, I had failed to check with the manager that the pub would be open on that date. Having just spoken to him, I have to report that it  is not open to the public on Mondays, Tuesdays, or Wednesdays in January (due to low customer numbers in the coldest month) But this will change in February, and he has offered us the use of the big table in the conservatory, so I have made a provisional booking for Wednesday 11th February, 6 pm to 7.30 pm(ish), and will confirm it nearer the time.

Reminder: the monthly quiz is scheduled for the evening of Monday 2nd February. If anyone wants to book a place for a team of 4, 5, or 6 people, you can do so here: Events — The Anchor Oxford | Bar & Restaurant

Good wishes,

Catherine R.

Hello neighbours. As a gesture towards reviving our custom of meeting for a drink and a chat at The Anchor on occasional Wednesday evenings, I have booked a big table for Wednesday 11th February, 6 pm to 7.30 pm, in the conservatory (an adjunct to the main dining area). Everyone will be very welcome. It's a good way to keep in touch with local news -- and to support the pub.

Incidentally, congratulations are due to Carole and Simon (no. 47) and Tina and Ian (no. 45), too modest to report that they won the pub quiz last week, against fierce competition from a host of rival teams. If you've never tried the Anchor quiz (on the first Monday of every month: Events — The Anchor Oxford | Bar & Restaurant) you won't appreciate what an impressive achievement that was.
