Dear all,

Thanks to those who came along to discuss the idea for 'Play Street' which we've since decided to rebrand as 'Sunday Street' to make it very clearly an intergenerational, community event.

A group of us went through all the emails received and took note of the concerns raised and tried our best to address them. The large majority of emails that came through (most of them sent to Isabel and I personally) suggest that most people feel it's a good idea and we should at least give it a go.

A couple of points to note:
- It is planned as a very occasional event (perhaps 3 times between the spring and beginning of autumn) with a trial to test the waters and reassess.
- It will last 2 hours only
- It is designed to be intergenerational (hence the re-brand)
- Plenty of warning will be provided before the event
- We suggest that the road closure happens between The Deli and number 38 / 21 (canal side) to allow plenty of parking along the rest of the road.
- It is, of course, an entirely optional event.

In terms of what it might involve.  It feels important that this is an informal event that involves very little planning. At its simplest, it could simply be walking out of your front door to share a cup of tea with neighbours. However, ideas proposed in the Anchor on Thursday evening included:
- A lemonade and cookie stall
- Violin playing (which i am told was one of the most memorable moments of the pandemic)
- A plant and allotment produce swap
- Seed sharing (we all loved the Hayfield Road giant Sunflower last summer!)
- Chalk hopscotch
- Giant bubbles
- A Book swap
- Litter picking
- 'Please take' stalls.

I am going to put through the application to the Council as a first step and will write again if and when it gets approved.

Many thanks

Sarah

We are imposters from 28 Frenchay Road (a few doors round the corner from hayfield road) but just wanted to say we love this idea and would love to help x

We know these lovely imposters from St Barnabas and can vouch for them!

Thank you, Sarah and Isabel, for organising this event on everyone’s behalf.
