Hello neighbours. I am forwarding (below) the latest email from 'SHARE Oxford' concerning the 'Library of Things' that they are setting up as part of the MakeSpace project in Aristotle House on the canal wharf. They invite everyone interested in their tool-sharing scheme to attend an open meeting on Tuesday 11th September at 6.30 pm. -- Catherine Robinson (no. 12)

Come along to see how you can help grow this zero waste + sharing economy + local community project

Come and meet us

We're setting up ‘SHARE Oxford’ as Oxford's first community-run library of things. Our two volunteer coordinators have done a lot of good groundwork and prepared the project for the next stage! Will you help us make it happen?

Tuesday 11th September 18:30 - 20:00
Makespace Oxford - 1 Aristotle Lane, OX2 6TP

Share, prevent waste, save money, feel good

How often do you find yourself needing a carpet cleaner, a garden strimmer, a tent or a drill but you didn’t want to buy one or go through the hassle of sourcing it from a friend?

A community action group (CAG) in Oxford called ‘SHARE Oxford’ is setting up a community-led and community-focused ‘library of things’ precisely for those sort of things!

The two volunteer coordinators have done a lot of groundwork, and are planning the next stage - preparing a soft launch. We  are now searching for members of the group and for people to make the service happen. If you fancy becoming a borrower voting member, applying your skills, sharing your knowledge or learning more about zero waste, the sharing or circular economy and putting it into practice, or simply getting to meet like-minded people - we need you on board. As much or as little time you can put in, our offer is flexible and can arrange for both daytime and evening / weekend opportunities.

Help us make this innovative project one that works for all - for our wellbeing, for the economy, for our pockets, and for the planet. Have a look at the agenda and our advertised roles, consider what you role you’d be interested in, and come along to our first Open General meeting Tuesday 11th September 18:30 - 20:00 @ Makespace Oxford - 1 Aristotle Lane, OX2 6TP.

If you come, you’ll be able to see where the Library is, what it’s like and what’s in it so far. If you can't make it but are still interested in helping out, do reply to this email.

Let us know you’re coming by emailing ch...@shareoxford.org.

See you there!
