Welcome to Makespace
Nearly three sun-drenched weeks have
passed since our
official launch and
we are starting to
see what day-to-day
life at Makespace
Oxford looks like.
|
|
Events bring a steady stream of people
through our doors. We
were honoured to host
the Oxford Green
Week VIP launch,
The Community
Action Groups (CAG)
- Oxfordshire
hosted a food waste
volunteer training
workshop and Monchu
ran a tea tasting
session. Oxford
Recovery College
taught us how to make
pine cone peanut
butter bird feeders
over one lunch time, Solidarity
Economy Association
hosted a workshop on
the growing
co-operative economy
in Rojava, Northern
Syria and Transition by
Design ran an
‘ask the expert’ event
on sustainable
architecture and green
building.
Visitors can also drop
into the Homemaker
Oxford
exhibition in
partnership with
Interior Architecture
students from Oxford
Brookes to explore the
potential for using
empty and underused
space to house people
without a home.
Blossoming out of our
regular community
meetings we’ve now got
plans for skill share
workshops, lunch clubs
and craftivism.

find brilliant
individuals to
fill our hot

A huge thank you
Thanks to all those who came along to
our launch
party and
helped to make
it such a
success, in
particular
Mehdi from The
Hayfield Deli,
the Oxford
Wine Company,
Tap
Social
Movement,
Groovy Sue and
especially the
fantastic
Makespace
Oxford
residents who
made it
happen.
A final thanks
to everyone
who has helped
put us on the
map, donated
time or
materials and
talked about
us to friends
and
colleagues.
Makespace
Oxford has
been an
incredible
community
effort and we
simply
wouldn’t be
here without
you.
