i'm having numerous difficulties running/debugging after installing the latest haxe and flashdevelop.

1) when i try running my haxe app in flash develop, i get:
"No application is associated with the specified file for this operation" and the app doesn't show up anywhere

if i change the Project/Properties/TestProject to "Play: Open in Popup" it runs, but the popup window starts behind flashdevelop

2) if i set a breakpoint anywhere in the code, the application hangs and i have to close flashdevelop

are other people having similar issues?

thanks,
doug

1) Get the standalone debug Flash player from here:
Run it once to associate it with SWF files (make sure it works by double-clicking one SWF in Explorer).

2) Other SWF play modes are running on the same thread as FlashDevelop: a breakpoint will also stop FlashDevelop. The bug is that FD should ignore your breakpoints altogether.

i downloaded the debug player for both ie and chrome.  for ie, it tries to run, but blocks the haxe app because it is running activex.  i tried shutting of the activex blocker and it makes it to the breakpoint, but when i restart the app the activex blocker stops it again.  for chrome, flashdevelop just sits there waiting for the flash player to connect to the debugger.

i don't understand your response to #2.  what are other swf play modes?  i'm not reaching my breakpoint.  why should FD ignore my breakpoints?  shouldn't a debugger pay attention to breakpoints?  what use are breakpoints if the debugger ignores them?  i missing something

I meant the "Windows Flash Player 11.2 Projector content debugger", not the browser plugin. This is a standalone SWF player so the SWF doesn't run in the browser.

And this is the Default test mode in FlashDevelop (also known as External) and the most stable in general.

Playing in the browser also works (it's tricky in Chrome because it favors its included non-debug player) - you'd use the "Open Document" test mode and click <Edit..> to enter the path to the HTML page (bin/index.html).

"Why should FD ignore my breakpoints?" When FD hosts the Flash player it can not break it, that's all.
