Aloha all,
I am reviving the Hawaii Open Data google group:

https://groups.google.com/d/forum/hawaiiopendata

There are just a few of on this list as it has not been active for several years. I was debating about startup up a Meetup group but I couldn't justify the expense.

In conjunction with this I am planning to startup a monthly data meetup where we bring in data subject matter experts to talk about their datasets. I am working on getting someone from HPD to talk about crime incident data.

I don't have any specific dates yet but am thinking of the 4th Wednesday of each month. The first one will be in Dec 2016, tentatively 12/28.

If you know of anyone who would like to join this group, please let me know.

Mahalo,
Burt

Hi Burt!
It might be interesting to get public safety data to look at recidivism rates and the linkage to crime rates.

The UH Social Science Research Institute might be a good resource since they are working with PSD.

I had a transportation data / metric idea at the last transportation conference I went to about Right-of-Way optimization. And optimizing the square footage of our right of way for certain types of social outcomes from person throughput to economic and social equity to safety. Could be a mashup project with the HPD incident data as it pertains to roads and sidewalks
