meeting agendas

HACA Board holds monthly meetings yet there have been no agendas
posted since August 2011. Does the leadership want engagement with
community and membership? How are membership numbers doing? Are
newsletters reflecting issues that all stakeholders can benefit from
resident and none resident? Where are minutes from meetings? How can
residents access resources at HACA?

I too have a hard time with Google Groups Stephen and for the moment have given up until another voice from the wilderness showed up. Thank you. I too am less than a master, but ready to learn. For practice I attach a report I am giving to the full board this evening as part of the group formerly known as the Pavilion Committee and from this evening to be known as the Hawaiian Acres Education Entertainment Association (HAPEEA) call us HAPPY. another thing to consider when dealing with communication is/are the community that we reside in. Many do not have internet for economic reason. Some only have dial up. Others are in dead spots and can't get service. Checking email can be an hour task if ya don't get booted. Consider attempting to download a website under those circumstances..

HACA might want to look at who they serve and how. Are moms with small children or working folks likely to visit a website during the precious family time hours only to find no current info other than the HACA facility building schedule. I think not.

The newsletter has always been the only communication HACA has had with lot owners practically speaking. As nice as it is to report on the Saturday market and play groups etc, consider what matters most to all, I suspect that a large part of membership lives elsewhere.
Perhaps an article on adverse possession and looking out for ones own, or issues involving  the common lot and rights would be appropriate.

Until the Board becomes more transparent and lives up to the charter, HACA  is not likely to be seen as a voice for our community.
 
 Does HACA have the authority to represent lot owners on matters pertaining to personal real estate holding and land issues in HA.?

 We have tried to keep the website "lightweight" so that it is usable with dial-up.

We welcome articles for the newsletter - those sound like interesting topics.

Note sure in what way the Board is not transparent, nor how it is not living up to the charter.

 Not to my knowledge. I'm not aware of anything like that happening since May 2005, when I joined HACA.

The Community Association is entirely run by volunteers from within the community. I'm not quite sure how they could display any more involvement.

Those who do pay their membership dues are providing the funding to keep the building, playground and office open.

     You have valid questions and suggestions.  Whenever I hear such, along with good ideas, I presume the one putting forth the ideas is volunteering for implementation.  I know I'm occasionally remiss or sloppy about the secretary's duties and would appreciate regular prompting.  So to improve our service here is something you can volunteer for.  Remind me to get the minutes and agenda published in a timely way.  Thanks. Its a bit late now but for the next newsletter an article about adverse possession would be welcome.

Anyone is welcome to volunteer for boosting membership and involvement.  We have more non-board members more deeply involved now than I've ever seen.  Leo Barnett, Molly Miller, Lori loftin and their team, Bob White and Max,  a half dozen very faithful attendees of Saturday mornings, Kim Pinkerton, Jeff Krepps, sometimes Tom and Kathy Dorn, Dave Seawater, etc.  And we have more board members than ever. More involvement means more coordination of activities by the office manager and more expenses.  One thing highly valued in a volunteer is more doing than talking, and more giving than taking.  I tend to get preachy too.

I agree that action is a key to being involved. Burna Otoole and I were quite impressed with the warm welcome we received from the newer HACA board members and a few of the old.

I agree that community involvement and action it key. It has been very encouraging over the years to work with the community with PCDP, County of Hawaii leadership design team, boy scouts, children's groups, State massage therapy advisory board, etc. etc.
One thing that I have found, as i suspect others have is how uplifting it is when working with folks that are open minded and have a common goal.

 At the last HACA meeting, despite some old energy of attack, Burna, Izzy and I left feeling what i described as...people of "light"...happy people that are dominating the Board!

I was happy for this since Izzy was there filming for her home school civic lesson. It was a powerful demonstration of cooperation and conflict.

With the limited amount of time that I have, sending out reminder messages is not on my list of priorities. I use a planner to keep up on priority tasks for myself and ohana...

You have been secretary for years. I admire your commitment to HACA and your spirit of good will.
 
  I would hope that in the spirit of good will, and the desire of HACA to engage the community, that it would be a top priority of
   leadership to post agenda items and correspondence on the web site,board, and in the office for community at least a week
   before the meeting.
 
 Burna and I, hours before the last meeting did not have access to the agenda.
We had not received a follow up call from leadership indicating our status.The office manager did not know if we were on the agenda.
We arrived hopeful that we would be. We were not.
Mark encouraged that we be put on the agenda at the start of the meeting.
The Board had not viewed our correspondence sent May 4th. This added time to the meeting. I felt for Ken at the last meeting when he and the board were asked to discuss matters that they had only received correspondence on just prior to the meeting. I appreciated that he would not discuss matters till he was up to speed! That was responsible! Thanks Ken!
 
 It seems kind of silly to me that you make the suggestion that a visitor to a HACA meeting be asked to remind one in a HACA leadership position to execute the tasks they were elected to do.

Refuse us open participation and missed 90 meetings To AC invitations. Do not live here. 

We lost 93 miles of roads over Cdp. We paid for one road instead of all. 

Pay your dues. And stop whining  about roads you pay nothing on. 

Stop  giving away 3 roads that bankrupted all roads and lost emergency access. 

Petition: for Ola'a road to be given as county connector with 3 parks. 

Petition:  Fernacres open 3 preexisting roads to Public With 3 parks. 

Bet that will get some participation.
