** Sports Shorts **

Hawaii beat Fresno State, 92-78, in a WAC men's basketball game on
Saturday night at Fresno. For the Rainbows (19-7 overall, 8-6 WAC) Micah
Kroeger scored 20 points and Alika Smith and Anthony Carter added 19
apiece. Fresno dropped to 17-10 and 10-4.

The UH Wahine basketball team is in Las Vegas awaiting the start of the
WAC postseason tournament. On Wednesday at the Thomas & Mack Arena, Na
Wahine will take on the winner of today's game between New Mexico and
Tulsa. UH is 24-2 overall and 13-1 in the conference.

Punahou defeated Kapaa, 2-0, on Saturday night at Aloha Stadium to capture
the 1998 Hawaii high school girls' soccer title. The Buffanblu converted
on free kicks twice in a three-minute span in the second half to notch the
win. Mia Moe and Shaina Nishimoto were the goal scorers for the Puns.

Kamehameha won the boys' high school wrestling championship and McKinley
the girls' on Saturday night at the Stan Sheriff Center. The title matches
were televised locally on KFVE channel 5.

The UH baseball team lost two of three games to San Jose State this
weekend at San Jose. The Rainbows are now 17-5 overall and 1-2 in the
Western Athletic Conference. The 'Bows return home to host San Diego
State this weekend.
