Steve and George, Don't listen to me. But would you bend an ear to William Perry?

GOH, 

William J. Perry was Secretary of Defense in the early and mid-90s. Under Bill Clinton. 

He too is on the same page as Jack F. Matlock, Jeffrey Sachs and others. The U. S. needs to remove that beam and then help Russia with its splinter. Or it might even be vice versa, remove our splinter first. But we need clear, unblinking vision. 

"Many have pointed to the expansion of NATO in the mid-1990s as a critical provocation. At the time, I opposed that expansion, in part for fear of the effect on Russian-U.S. relations. But the larger issue was not just NATO expansion but what it represented: a general failure by Western governments to respect the vital importance of this nuclear power to the world order".

At the end of this piece, Perry says that 'Putin is the enemy, not Russia'.  This is too stark and contradictory since he pointed out earlier that 'he seems to have many Russian people on his side'.

Down to nut crunchingbtime.

Do you quite specifically hold that, right now, in 2022,  the original NATO member countries should kick Hungary and Poland out of the joint retaliation pact known as NATO?

A specific action question to you.

Not theory.  Action.

I could have, and might have, argued against letting them into NATO in the first place.

BUT once we made that.mistake, my initial reaction is that kicking them out now in 2022 or beyond would be a worse mistake..

But I am interested in your reaction to the question, not my own.
