March 3rd was the date that Hatton Darts reclaimed their rightful title as Derby Runner Xcountry Division 1 Champions.
2012 was ayear to forget with a disappointing 4th having won Divion one the previous year.
Having chased the top spot for the last 5 months, they ended rasing the trophy aloft, top of the pile for the first time of this campaign at the only time it mattered. After the final race of the year! This is no mean feat as the league has grown from just 8 to 25 teams during the last 10 years, showing just how popular running has now become.

Pulling out all the stops, were some epic performances despite a number being heavy legged as many Darts push on into London Marathon high mileage training.
Again it was Ashley Hurdman taking top honours over a new course being held in Whitick near Coalville. The course was found to be fast and twisty with 3 stream crossing blending a mixture of grass, gravel, woodland and rocky terrain. Non of this slowed Hurdman who went of with a group of 3 eventually racing the final hill for 3rd overall. A gap back to the chasing group where Gordon Smith clawed his way through several runners to take a favourable 4th.A few places back in 12th but having his best race for over a decade was a reinvigerated Jason Tilley, excitedly finding himself another gear to leave a chasing group but with the added bonus of dragging team mate Duncan Stewart round for 13th.Tony Caulton would have liked a longer/tougher course to show his strength but still did the red vest proud in 23rd. Jo Alcock 30th impressed his team mates by taking Stan Knopik, 37th, by surprise to the tune of 17 seconds.Jim Londesborough completed the counters in a respectable 69th. Jonathan Greggson had hoped for more mud but pushed on to 89th, Paul Mellor following close behind in 96th.Chris Matthews had his come back race, 162nd.
The Ladies put out a strong team for the final race, indeed it was Naomi Warr's first appearance of the season. Zero dissapointment as Naomi ran fast and furious to take 3rd, seconds behind the first two ladies. As with the men a gap back from the initial three until fourth lady showed up, thankfully in a Hatton vest in the guise of the fastest improving dart this year- Alison Collins.Emma Dyson paced herself well sything through the field for an engine room finish,28th. Carol Sharratt was final ladies counter ensuring Hatton took 1st combined team prize of the day via 64th. Karen Jackson and Ruth Matthews ran in as proud back up for the Darts Ladies.
