The third National Forest 10K will set off from Conkers on Sunday September 16. There will also be a mile-long fun run around the trails in Conkers for children and families.
The 10K (6.21 mile) scenic off-road route will again take runners along the Ashby Woulds Heritage Trail to the young woodland of Donisthorpe Woodland Park. It will follow the Ashby Canal, passing Moira Furnace to join the Conkers Circuit. Cutting through mature and young woodland planted as part of The National Forest, and skirting around Albert Village Lake, the climax will be the fast downhill finish to Conkers
Discovery Centre.
The maximum number of runners is 500 and race organisers are expecting this to fill quickly. All runners need to enter online through www.runnersworld.co.uk/NF10K
There will be cash prizes for the male and female winners. As well as prizes for runners up, teams, veterans, beating last year’s top time and spot prizes.
Fun run entries should be made on the day of the event.
The event is organised by the National Forest Company, Conkers, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire District Councils in partnership with the local running clubs Ivanhoe Runners, South Derbyshire Road Runners and Hermitage Harriers. These friendly running clubs welcome new members of all abilities. Visit their websites for details on joining.
