Hello
Sunil

I understand not being able to attend the H7 GJ celebrations in October.

Your passion for "not paying anything underhanded" qualifies you to be a bonafied AAM Party member.

I opened the attachments and noticed your donation to H7 HATS.   Thanks a bunch.  I am sure H7 current G.sec Amit Kumar and his council members appreciate your generosity.  Now it is upto them and HATS to figure out worth while projects for the hostel.

Thanks again.

Dear Hemant
Greetings and Best Wishes for 2014.
I very briefly passed by IIT-B while moving homes & furniture, had a earful of customs stamp duties & octroi, but paid nothing underhand, and ended up with official receipts, a far cry from 1981 experience, but still drug me around quite a bit. Needless to say, very sorry to miss your grand offers, which were much appreciated.

Please do convey our best wishes to Prof. Raman Ramalingam, TT champ in our time, H7 Warden, and now Head of Metallurgy/Material Sciences. I do want to tie up his welding department with our company's R&D, on my llist....

Attached please find the documentstion for my yearly mini-contribution, to HATS Hostel 7, hope it helps.
Kind Regards

PS also attached our get-together pics from 26 Dec 2013 which I also very nearly missed! Hope you reciognize a few old friends, a bit more aged than your batch, but sprightly nonetheless.

Hi H7 alumnus:

First, there's a call to action for all of you to attend a *dinner at H7 on Sunday Oct 27th*.
I urge each and every H7 alumni in Bombay to make this happen!

Read on below for the details.

You may know that the Lady of the Lake is celebrating her 50th birthday this year. H7 junta is kicking off the event with a lot of events over the Oct 25-27 weekend. This is a 3-month long celebration of the lady's 50th anniversary and the celebrations will continue till January 2014.

This weekend marks the kick-off.

Hats off to the current batch of students for their enthusiasm in organizing this kick-off.

As a part of that event, there will be a social mixer / Mela on Sunday October 27th at 5pm, followed by a gala dinner at 7pm.

I would encourage all the Bombay alumni to PLEASE spare the evening and attend these events. Here is a web sign-up form to confirm your attendance so that the organizers have a rough count of how many alumni to expect. Alternatively call H7 G.Sec., Amit Kumar at 097-57-418423 to sign up and/or more info.

As a part of the kick-off event, H7 is also going to launch two new initiatives :

  1. Unnati - This is to educate the CURRENT mess workers. After the change from permanent mess workers to the outside contractors, the mess workers are really kids - in their late teens and early 20s. The students want to provide them targeted training (e.g., police work, hospitality etc.) so that they can pass the exams and get better paying jobs. For More, click on this link.  It is worth noting that this initiative was borne out of the messworker initiative we took on as a part of alumni activities. Kudos to all H7 alumni who initiated those ideas and provided the funds to make that a success. Now the H7 current students are carrying the same baton to help the current set of mess workers. Brilliant idea, IMO.
  2. Make Hostel My Home - Some of you may have heard about this initiative.  The idea is to empower students to improve their living environment. H7 is launching the pilot program and after ironing out the wrinkles, it would be introduced to all other hostels in a few months.  For more info, click on this link.   Students produced a photo story that can be viewed at this link.

It should be noted that both these initiatives are being originated by H7 - we are taking a leadership role across the campus, once again.  This makes ALL of us proud!

If you have any question, please call me or email me.

If you'd like to share a comment with the rest of the H7 alumni (there are 1542 on this distribution list!) please email it to me and I will compile comments from all of you and share with everybody in a month or so.

By the way - I apologize for sending out this invite so late, but I would like to see at least Bombay based alumni this Sunday.
