ACMA's failure to take enforcement action against Harbour Radio Pty
Ltd 2GB for broadcasting material likely to encourage racial
vilification demonstrates that ACMA has learnt nothing from its
predecessor the ABA.
ACMA's decision that it would accept formal undertakings from Harbour
Radio Pty Ltd, the licensee of 2GB radio in Sydney, to undertake
training on vilification in response to three breaches of the
Commercial Radio Codes of Practice 2004 proves that ACMA is a doormat.
This announcement shows that serial offenders such as Harbour Radio
Pty Ltd 2GB can effectively get away with continual breaches of the
code.
The Australian community can have no confidence that ACMA will stand
up to powerful media interests. This announcement shows that:
* serial offenders such as Harbour Radio Pty Ltd will be slapped
on the wrist for continual breaches of the code; and
* broadcasting material that encourages racial vilification is not
taken seriously by ACMA.
Labor is disappointed by ACMA's announcement today that it will accept
only undertakings from Harbour Radio Pty Ltd.
ACMA should have considered, as a minimum, the imposition of a licence
condition with serious penalties for future breaches as punishment for
Harbour Radio Pty Ltd's breaches of the code

Listening to 2GB this morning shows no difference..
