2GB Macquarie Exodus
The Macquarie Network's 2GB has lost another journalist from its
Canberra bureau. Political editor Stephen Spencer left at the end of
2007 to work as chief of staff at the Ten Network in Canberra, now
political reporter James Goodwin has also walked. Goodwin quit after
he was overlooked for promotion despite acting in Spencer's role all
year. Sources say 2GB's stars have too much influence over the
newsroom and management was desperate to get a right-winger for the
political editor role. They phoned a number of unemployed Howard
government staffers but none of them accepted. Last week they
appointed Michael Kavanagh, from the Department of Foreign Affairs and
Trade, as bureau chief.

I have constantly heard lately that the general feeling at MRN (2GB
especially) is Toxic! One big headed foul mouthed morning personality
recently gave a disgusting dressing down to the man (a very well
respected and partially retired PD) who he owes his success to in the
immediate earshot of many staff - the PD and the staff at MRN were
left staggered and visibly upset by the unwarranted outburst from the
king of outburst! It will not take too much guessing to work out who
the key people involved were on this occasion ............. Has radio
lost it's heart and soul or have the personalities lost their mind?
