Every QSI scientific camera is accompanied by a collection of software applications and tools that allow you to begin imaging immediately using Microsoft Windows or Linux platforms. QSI cameras are supported on the Macintosh by 3rd party applications.

QSI provides robust Application Programming Interfaces (API) for both Windows and Linux environments, enabling commercial customers and end users to write their own custom camera control applications.

The installer includes USB Drivers, User Guides and ASCOM support. You will be able to optionally install native plugins for AstroArt during installation. If you received a complimentary code for SGPro with your camera you can download it here.

QSI cameras are supported in PRiSM versions 7.2.9 or later. PRiSM is an integrated software package that incudes telescope control (telescope, filter wheel, focuser), CCD camera control, preprocessing, processing and analyzing astronomical images, and an efficient Skymap tool.

QSI cameras are supported on Intel-based Macintosh computers by recent versions of TheSkyX Professional for the Macintosh. Please visit the Software Bisque website for complete details.

QSEye and QSEye Lite (free) provide support for image acquisition from QSI cameras. Both the free and paid versions can be downloaded from the Mac App Store. Additional details can be found on the QSEye website

QSI cameras are supported on Linux by GoQAT, a free Open Source Linux application designed to operate a QSI camera, autoguider and telescope. Read more about GoQAT and download the latest version directly from the GoQAT website

QSI provides both an ASCOM-compatible API (Application Programming Interface) alongside a more traditional C API enabling users to write their own custom camera control applications. The camera control API is an automation component that communicates with the camera device driver and exports a COM automation interface. COM automation provides an interface that allows Microsoft Office, VB, VBA, C++, and other Windows applications to control the camera. Our C API allows you to write your application in any language that can interface with the C language.

QSI provides a camera control C++ API for Linux users. The API provides full camera control and image capture capabilities via the USB interface. The API is implemented as a shared library providing an easy to use camera object that exposes all of the features and capabilities of the camera. It is well suited for both simple scripting, and more sophisticated imaging application development. The QSI Linux API requires Linux kernel version 2.6 or later configured with libusb. The QSI Linux API is distributed in source code form and can be built using the standard GNU configuration and build tools. See the ChangeLog and README files in the archive for additional details.

If the operating system does not detect the camera, you must first make sure that the camera drivers are installed. In addition, do not forget that manufacturers of webcams strongly recommend installing the latest drivers. If you do not have the CD and installation files for your webcam, first of all, try to find them on the manufacturer's official website. If you could not find them there, do not hesitate to download free webcam drivers from our website.

Moving forward, Teledyne Photometrics will focus driver development and support on the Windows and Linux platforms and have discontinued updates to PVCAM Drivers for Mac OSX. The ASMedia USB driver may provide better performance and stability for USB 3.2 based cameras on some systems. If you experience any issues with the connection or performance on AsMedia-based USB controllers, please try this alternative USB controller driver.

In recent updates, Microsoft released two hotfixes which updated their FireWire stack file. However, these updates cause performance drops in the functionality of Texas Instruments (TI) FireWire Controllers which ship with some older Teledyne Photometrics cameras. These performance drops manifest with the following symptoms:

The AR1335 is a 1/3.2-inch CMOS active-pixel digital image sensor with a pixel array of 4208H x 3120V. The AR1335 digital image sensor features breakthrough 1.1m pixel technology that delivers superior low-light image quality through leading sensitivity, quantum efficiency, and linear full well. This allows image quality that rivals digital still cameras. With a sensor architecture focused on low power and a high Chief Ray Angle (CRA) for low Z-heights, the AR1335 is ideal for smartphones and other mobile device applications. It incorporates sophisticated on-chip camera functions such as windowing, mirroring, column and row skip modes, and snapshot mode. It is programmable through a simple two-wire serial interface. The AR1335 sensor can generate full resolution images at up to 30 frames per second (fps) and supports advanced video modes including 4K 30fps, 1080P 60fps, and 720P 120fps. (Taken from OnSemi webpage).

By default 1080p mode has an output frame size of about 1920x1080 but covers a full ROI of 3840x2160. However, the binning/scaling process can be disabled using this control to selects a 1920x1080 ROI without changing the frame size. The frame that comes from the camera needs to have a constant size once the streaming begins, so the idea is to start the capture using 1080p mode with the binning/scaling enabled covering the 3840x2160 region and then, select a 1920x1080 ROI in the desired area. This ensures a constant frame size avoiding inconsistent streaming.

The driver allows supporting manual white balance handle through red, green, blue digital gain controls. This gain controls only affect the digital contributions to modify the image colors and keep the current analog gain.

DS-Fi3 is a high-definition color microscope camera equipped with a 5.9 megapixel CMOS image sensor. Its high-speed data readout, superior color reproduction and high quantum efficiency are optimal for imaging in various observations, such as brightfield, DIC, phase contrast and fluorescence observation.

DS-Fi3 is equipped with a 5.9 megapixel CMOS image sensor, which enables the capture of high-definition images of up to 2880 x 2048 pixels. With this new CMOS image sensor and high-speed data transfer via USB 3.0, DS-Fi3 enables fast focusing even in high-resolution imaging, and efficient image acquisition when using a wide range of illumination techniques.

The DS-Fi3 has significantly higher quantum efficiency and lower readout noise than conventional models. It allows for the capture of brighter images with higher S/N ratios in fluorescence observation modes.

Due to the high-speed data readout by the CMOS image sensor and high-speed USB3.0 data transfer, the DS-Fi3 displays live images of full 2880 x 2048-pixel images at 15 fps, and 1440 x 1024-pixel images at 30 fps. This enables smooth display during focusing and the selection of observation locations.

Nikon is well known for outstanding and lifelike color reproduction, and developing superior algorithms for creating results that look like the actual samples. These algorithms are used in all of the color cameras in the digital sight lineup.
